great material for anyone that is going to be in pre-medical courses. this book is basically biochemistry. it does have some vague descriptions; almost like they crammed to much material into some sections. could be organized a little better, but overall a good book.

Very nice book. Jumps around on some areas, like for example when trying to explain the steps in glycolysis. But overall it is a good book and explains many aspects clearly. Some topics could've been a little more concise though. Package was delivered on time and good condition.

The book is fine, but what they fail to mention when you're buying it as an ebook is that it isn't compatible with iPhone or with Windows 8. I had to download the Windows 7 driver just to get it to open.

I'm a biomedical engineering student at Purdue University, and I needed this book for BIOL 230. I took it with Prof. Bartlett, who I liked a lot, but I know others thought he was boring. This book is a GREAT book for learning. If you can keep up the reading in this book, then you're bound to get an A in the class. The class can sometimes go pretty fast and over your head if you don't read, but it is possible to get by with an okay grade without the book.

I also got a free PDF from a friend of the book, but I prefer the physical copy. Overall, I used this book than most of my others, and even in compliment of my BME 201 course material at times. It has FANTASTIC diagrams to teach you Glycolysis, Electron Transport Chain, Photosynthesis, Membrane Transport, etc.

An underestimaded tool for the class is Youtube. There are tons of great animations out there that helped me get an A. Good luck!

This was a required textbook for my Cellular and Molecular Biology class. The book is decently written, but tends to ramble on and on just to take up space. They put a significant amount of useless information in this book just to make it bigger so that you think its worth the money. My professor uses the PowerPoint slides from the company that wrote this book, and they are absolutely terrible. Each slide is just a heaping pile of unorganized information that makes learning the materiel even more difficult. If you are a professor and are considering this textbook for your class, I would strongly advise that you look elsewhere.

This book does NOT contain the code for Wiley Plus, which is the publisher's homework website, even if you buy it new, which is what I did. I had to contact Amazon to find out why the new book didn't include the code, and while their customer service was great, they could not find a book that included access to Wiley Plus. I think this is the publisher's way to try to squeeze more money out of students and force them to buy the book on campus.

one stop shopping for cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry. Karp's excellent book covers a broad range of subjects in modern molecular and cellular biology, in a compact form that still manages to convey the experimental process. The text is extremely readable, and is organized to be flexible for many different types of courses.

The text is easy to understand and has plenty of images and descriptions to help explain material. The book could be organized more effectively and certain portions could be explained more straightforwardly.
