More About the Author

Judy Reiser personally interviewed thousands of people for her three acclaimed books:
Admit It, You're Crazy! Quirks, Idiosyncrasies & Irrational Behavior
And I Thought I Was Crazy! Quirks, Idiosyncrasies & Meshugaas
In a Cell Phone Minute

Her books have received much media attention with reviews and excerpts in prestigious publications such as The New York Times Book Review, AARP Bulletin, Reader's Digest, The Washington Post, Cosmopolitan and many others as well as speaking engagements and appearances on hundreds of national and international radio and television shows, including The Today Show.

Judy began collecting quirks when she divulged something crazy she does (she doesn't remember which one it was--there are so many) and her friend shared something he does. After having a good laugh about it, she soon discovered that everyone has quirks. She has been observing, gathering, marveling at and laughing about quirks ever since and is recognized for helping to bring the subject to the forefront. Her husband insists that had she written the quirk books as an autobiography, they would have been much longer!

She looked at her cell phone one day and thought, "I wonder if there are any good stories here?" She began inquiring and found that there were very entertaining stories. She collected them and the result is, "In a Cell Phone Minute" . The book is shaped like and opens vertically like a flip-top phone.

Judy is also the designer of her books.

People do the darndest things & audiences love to hear about it! Judy has her audience laughing in recognition when she delivers her entertaining, humorous as well as insightful talk.

I bet you can think of your own cell phone story that would fit in any one of these categories.

For example, my friend Betsy answered to her phone to hear: "This is Red and White Cab. We found a phone in one of our cabs that had your phone number in it under MOM. Do you know who it belongs to?" Betsy's son, like so many people, have only a cell phone, no landline, and if they lose their phone, you can't even call them to say you found it--so those who did a little investigation usually call HOME or MOM and track down the owner. When Betsy went to pick up the phone, the woman's drawer was full of unclaimed phones. Now all Betsy had to do was find a way to tell her son she had his phone.

Armchair Interviews says: Reiser's collected stories are the good, the bad and the ugly about cell phones. We love ours, but hate the person who has rude manners, talks loudly in public (as if we care about his conversation) and generally annoy us. Great little gift book for those who think they must have a cell phone to their ear--or they are missing something!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute gift for the speed-talkers in your life !, April 7, 2011
This review is from: In a Cell Phone Minute (Paperback)
More than fifty individuals offer brief but interesting and thoughtful stories about how the use of a cell phone has affected their lives. Some of the funniest stories are by those who thought they had hung up their cell phone, but really hadn't and carried on conversations that their future mother-in-law, bosses or girlfriends then overheard.

Other stories center on phones coming on by themselves when the person is bumped and the speed-dial mechanism comes on -- I laughed out loud reading the story where a person who answered their phone could only hear people screaming at the top of their lungs; it turned out the phone's owner was on a roller coaster and as she was jostled back-and-forth, the speed-dial mechanism was triggered and made the call in the middle of her ride.

Probably the smartest use of the cell phone described was the person who was pulled over and -- while being given a ticket for an expired registration -- he pulled the form out from behind his visor, called a friend and registered his car online and then as the policeman handed him his ticket he showed the policeman the filled-out form and authorization number. That's fast-talking and fast work to avoid getting your car towed !

The book itself is eye-catching as it's presented in a tablet format to resemble a cell phone. It flips up and the title page looks like a telephone keypad. Judy Resier has a cute winner here, as it will make a great gift for the speed talkers in your life. Indeed, if I were a cell phone seller, I'd buy copies and give them out with the phones -- customers would love it !
