Review

As a concerned physician, I have researched electro-pollution and its effects since cell phones were first introduced. I commend Carleigh for her courage and diligence in writing this long awaited, much needed and well documented expose about the hazards that non-ionizing microwave radiation pose to livings systems. She also makes us aware of the cover-ups that have facilitated the rapid expansion of the wireless industry and the lack of regulation based on human health and safety. --Carla A. Visha, M.D.

About the Author

Carleigh Cooper began researching the effects of wireless radiation on the human body in 2001, when over 35 different doctors and specialists were unable to determine the cause of her late husband’s illness. For 16 years he built the power microwave amplifiers for cell tower base stations; during that time he developed numerous, seemingly unrelated symptoms which after a decade led to a diagnosis of brain damage and a prognosis of brain tumor/cancer. Today, armed with factual data, supported by scientific evidence from industry-hired experts, independent researchers and other reliable sources, this dynamic woman shares her tragic story and informs cell phone users of worrisome facts and known risks, empowering them to make wise decisions about their exposure. Carleigh has a B.A. degree in Psychology and a minor in Communication Arts. She has two beautiful daughters and a new grand daughter. Happily remarried, she enjoys life on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

This book could save your life. The introduction is heart-wrenching. But for skeptics, a single personal account means nothing; so the book goes on to tell the science and recent history of effects of non-ionizing radiation and cell phone use.

For a lot of readers, the author's non-technical background may be a plus, as the book is very accessible. But I could only give it 4 stars, even though it is pretty well researched (and I like that the references are on the bottom of each page). I saw no mention of the well documented incident in which George Carlo, Ph.D., tried to get Prof. Henry Lai fired from U. Wash. for his research showing microwave exposure could lead to increased double-stranded DNA breaks. The book does explain that Carlo was put in charge of health research by the cell phone industry, but the author relies too much on Carlo's book (he now says cell phones are deadly) in describing what happened next.

I think Blake Levitt is a better writer (EMF, Cell Towers), but this book is certainly more readable than Kane's Cellular Telephone Russian Roulette, which was written by an industry insider. In terms of books that focus on cell phones, this may be the best.

If I could hug this author, I would. Just the preface of her book alone had me in tears as I could relate to her story about her late husband's toxic encephalopathy, as I believe this is what has been plaguing me, especially since the mid-90's. A SPECT scan of my brain back in 2006 showed reduced blood flow to various areas of my brain, and even the SPECT machine seemed to trigger symptoms in me - as soon as the technician flipped the switch to perform the scan, I was hit with an instantaneous agitation and an urge to urinate which took every bone in my body to control.

My pets have been dropping like flies since the mid-90's - fatty liver disease, FIP, renal failure, bladder stones, tumors, heart attacks, chronic infections - the list goes on - many of them young pets. One of the cats that died began spraying the corners of my home one year prior to his death, almost as if to warn me of the dangers.

My sister lost two young cats over the summer to some mysterious illness causing weakness in the hind legs. The onset of their very first symptoms coincided perfectly with the installation of a cell phone mast behind her home.

My ex-husband had a glioma removed back in 2007 - he was a heavy cell phone user (and still is) and spent 6 years in the Navy working on radar, of all things.

I never used a cell phone myself, but I did use a cordless phone heavily (every bit as bad). I now suffer with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity which I now believe is related to underlying toxic encephalopathy (perhaps even an impending tumor), just as the author's late husband had. Basically, I can feel cell phone and wifi towers signals in the form of the most bizarre symptoms that no doctor yet has even tried to explain.

"Cell Phones and The Dark Deception," by Carleigh Cooper is a well written, enjoyable read. It is throughly researched, quoting and foot noting the top researchers throughout the world and the studies they have conducted into the very real and potent health hazards of cell and cordless digital phone technology. Dr. Roger Coghill. biologist and British mobile phone expert has commented, "There is overwhelming evidence from 12 laboratories now that excessive use of mobile phones, such as 20 minutes a day, could be a serious health risk." Just twenty minutes a day is all it takes to do adversely affect your health.

As cordless phones utilize the same RF/MW (radio frequency/microwave) technology as cell phones to transmit their signals, the author recommends using a corded land line phone whenever possible. The 171 page book is a gold mine of critical information to abundant to quote in a short review. You need to read the book for yourselves and benefit from the author's many hours of study into this vitally important subject. Literally, your life could depend on it.
