Stephen King nacio en Maine (EE.UU.) en 1947. Estudio en la universidad de su estado natal y despues trabajo como profesor de literatura inglesa. Su primer exito literario fue Carrie (1973) que como muchas de sus novelas posteriores fue adaptada al cine. A partir de entonces la ascension de Stephen King en las listas de bestsellers fue meteorica. Maestro indiscutible de la narrativa de terror contemporanea ha publicado mas de treinta libros. Entre sus titulos mas celebres cabe destacar El misterio de Salem s Lot El resplandor La zona muerta Ojos de fuego It Maleficio y La milla verde ademas de los recientes El cazador de suenos y Buick 8.
