My home is in a virtual dead spot. Initially I was disappointed by the negligible increase in signal strength. I decided to see whether uncoiling the cable would help. As luck would have it I decided to anchor the antenna with a magnet to the outdoor grill so that it would uncoil as I moved away. The signal strength rose from about a half bar to four. I saw another review which describes excellent results after attaching to a storm door. Perhaps the door is metal as well and what we've both done is create large passive repeaters.

I bought two of these. They arrived quickly and in good condition.
I mounted them on windows where I usually get two bars of signal on the outside, but one to none on the inside. The improvement is hardly noticeable, and you have to be right next to the window (within a foot of the antenna) to see a rare bump up to two bars, but usually one bar. Using the phone inside, even next to the window, is still unreliable, and impractical. I guess I just have wait for my contract to end and change carriers. Another company has much better signal in our area.

Listen folks i know these things don't work that great. but my department demands these for all patrol cars, because they think it will help. who knows, there may be some benefit. I have noticed the cell phone is what makes the difference. my nokia works better on signal than my moto phone does. But one warning. this is not a coil type as pictured. i was a little disappointed at the Liegth - coil is shorter. but shipping was very fast from this vendor. this vendor did a great job at shipping out fast. 4 day turn around!

I have installed "leaky RF systems" before that generally consists of two antennas and a length of cable between them. The idea is that a transceiver near one of the antennas will "couple" with it thus utilizing the cable to carry the signal to the other antenna where it will radiate out. Systems as described above are used in industry to allow both cell phone and UHF handy-talkies to function through heavy obstacles or layers of concrete building components. This car mount passive antenna or leaky RF system performs poorly at best and gives no noticeable increase in signal to my LG VM670. I believe this poor performance is due to the fact that the system has a physical brake as it is a glass mount device with no physical contact between the two antennas; which means the inherent inefficiency and signal loss in the device itself nullifies any advantage it may give. I mounted the antenna to the front windshield of my van as mounting it to the rear as the instruction indicate would have placed it some 12ft from the phone. Proximity seems to make no difference as moving to the middle or rear of the vehicle with my phone shows no signal increase. I had read other reviews that said basically the same thing I am writing but could not resist buying it to experiment with, and the experiment is a stunning failure so far. BTW... RF means Radio Frequency.

I installed the antenna as per instructions and it did NOTHING. Zilch.... Nada
Find something else if you're serious about getting an extra bar. This device is a total waste

FAST SHIPPING, GREAT COMMUNICATION, GREAT PRICES, GREAT VENDOR !
This is a passive antenna! It is not meant to correct or replace cell towers or crap phones but help you to send & receive signals from a "metal box" (car, truck, RV, travel trailer) or any place your signal can't get thru by extending your phone antenna from inside the box to outside the box. If your too far from a tower or something else (say a building or mountain)is blocking the signal, then this won't correct the problem. But, if you do have reception outside of your "metal" box but loose some or all of it inside of your "metal box" then this little jewel is the answer! As for the problem of being too far from a tower These folks have a product just for you....only it cost's more as expected.

This antenna would barely stay mounted, so I have a difficult time even assessing its full function. For the little bit of time I could get it to stay on, it didn't seem to make much of a difference for me. I returned it and am exploring better options.

If installed correctly this works if you have at least one bar, gives you one or two bars more. Installed on front windshield works better the the rear...Buying more for my other vehicles....

I didn't expect much from this but it definitely increases cell phone strength slightly, one full bar if you are pretty close to the antenna. I had low to zero expectations so I was pleased with the difference. I am using it in a concrete shop with poor reception and mounting one on the window has helped a bit. I am going to get two more to see if that makes an even bigger difference.

Just bought one for a friend who lives in basement that has no cell signal. Have doubt on it initially thinking a $10 product can solve the big problem. But it is only $10, why not give it a try.
The product is easy to setup. There is a small window in the basement that is just in the level of ground. Stick the two piece on each side of window. Few minutes later, got signal. It is not perfect. It only works in few feet around that window and has to stand up to make a call. It is still a huge improvement that able to make/receive phone call from part of the room. In conclusion: This product works in a small area that has cell signal blocked. |
