According to Naxos.com, track 10 on this CD is the (extremely short) second movement of Brandenburg's 3rd Concerto, which does in fact only last 11 seconds. Therefore nothing is missing on this CD. I was one of the twenty cellos on it, so I should know!! I give it four stars because I am not a huge fan of the Brubeck pieces, but I think the cello playing is great of course!

I would recommend this recording to any lover of the Cello.
It was magnificent.

(What's the date? I'll have to remember this.) The 2nd movement is in fact only 1 measure long, and other recordings typically substitute other works in its place.

Well then. Congrats to Naxos and the member of the Yale Cellos whose review corrected me (though in my arrogance I didn't believe her until Wikipedia).

Ahem. Turns out I'd better not say anything about Bach, but Brubeck is one of the great composers of the 20th century, more famous and influential for his work in jazz (especially Time Out) than in classical music, but Naxos is doing its best to get out the word about Brubeck's classical work as well. This recording is fine, and I'd also recommend John Salmon Plays Dave Brubeck but especially Brubeck - The Gates of Justice (Milken Archive American Jewish Music). There's a lot of great jazz by Brubeck as well; after Time Out, you might try Jazz at Oberlin.

Anyway, the thing to note about the Bach is that all the music here has been transcribed for cello - this is not the Brandenburg Concerto #3 or #6 that you're used to hearing.

I really failed to appreciate this recording a few years ago, and I'm grateful to have lived to see the error of my ways. (Something is wrong with the "edit review" function here, or this would no longer be a one-star review. I don't know why it won't change, or if the change will happen later, or what.)
