I have been the unfortunate recipient of this product, whilst on an outback hike in the middle of nowhere, I suffered a compound fracture from a 15 foot fall. The bone nicked my femoral artery and I was losing blood very quickly. I always carry first aid when I'm out and about and thank God, because after about 3 minutes I would have lost enough blood to pass out and later die.
Once applied, this product stopped the blood loss in 30 seconds. No tourniquet required. 30 seconds folks! This product is a real life saver and I recommend it over its competitor quick clot. I carry two packages of this in each of my first aid kits.
I rate this 5 stars based on the fact that EMTs that I know personally recommend it, and because it's made by a company with an excellent reputation; SAM®. SAM Medical Products makes items trusted and used by NASA and the United States Military.
I also rate it 5 stars since it does not heat up inside the wound (as per medical studies) like other hemostatic products like "Quick Clot" do. Most people know the name "Quick Clot" and buy their products because it's got a catchy name (easy to remember), and because their products are sold in most sporting goods stores, who target their sales mostly to weekend warriors and soccer Moms. No offense to soccer Moms, I have great respect for the patience and energy it takes, but I'd prefer to buy emergency supply items that are sold to and recommended by EMTs and medical professionals.
For these two reasons (reputation and no heat) I will be keeping these in our home emergency kits and GOOD bags (GOOD = Get Out Of Dodge).
This product also comes in others size packets (25g and 50g) but they were sold out here at Amazon and I wanted something to put in my emergency kits right away. I will buy more. I will eventually keep the other sizes in my kits. I may also buy some of the smaller 2g bags, good for use with small cuts, and CELOX bandages infused with the clotting agent.

Great for medium injuries.
Unlike other hemostatic products like "Quick Clot", CELOX produces no heat.
"Quick Clot" can reach temperatures over 100 deg while in use; I suggest that you do some research about the side effects of all these products. If you have come this far to prepare your first aid kit with a hemostatic product I would looking in to how to use each one and weigh the pros and cons before making a purchase.
I thought this one is best my family for common injuries to more serious and deeper cuts. To use with little kids, adults, and elders. Just to hold us over until more medical attention can be obtained. I bought different sizes for different size injuries.
