A Pleasing Variety of Music,
By
This review is from: Celtic Album (Audio CD)
Well done--played with the feeling I think the original composers meant to portray. Each track has its own personality, from the serious and fast-paced to the calm and heavenly. It has a good mix of music from the "grand" orchestra style to the simple tunes of a country dance to some more modern versions to the way I think it could have been played originally. There isn't a single track I don't like (no "cheesy" music). I love to listen to it while I work (I'm a writer) because it motivates, moves, and inspires me. Some tracks, like the one from Riverdance, I like especially for the way the fiddler almost seems to improvise, as though she were moving with the music instead of just reading the notes.

This CD really grows on you,

First purchased becasue of the reputation for inovative things Mr. Lockhart is doing with the Boston Pops, I have grown to love the music on this CD. The fast numbers make me feel happy and the slow ones are very relaxing and calming. It's wonderful.I especially enjoy it when driving along the Pacific Coast Highway.

A great cd, with an array of different styles of Irish music. If you ever get a chance to see the Boston Pops live, I recommend it.Just saw them this evening and they are awesome, well worth the money, I would go see them again in Boston if I ever get the chance to.

I find the album overall pleasant enough, but the most remarkable thing on it is the HUGE drumbeats on quiet track 4 following 1:21. They are very low (under 30 Hz) and very loud (a few dB under digital full-scale). Anyone who wants to test his or her system's bass capabilities and not have to play movie explosions and the like should check it out. I do not know of many music CDs with that kind of signal on them.

I bought this album b/c they were playing it in the music store. I fell in love with it *immediately.* I've never regretted a moment. The music ranges from playful, to magestic to heartrendingly lovely. This one is a *keeper.* Every track is a winner.

Perfect Wedding Music,
By A Customer
This review is from: Celtic Album (Audio CD)
When my husband and I got married this summer I walked in to the song Magh Seola and we walked out together to Pesante. The rest of the album was played while the guests were waiting for things to get started. We got so many comments about the great music we had at our wedding. The music is very powerful and beautiful.

You go, Keith,

There is something for everyone on "The Celtic Album" - bagpipes, traditional Irish reels, classical pieces inspired by Scottish and Irish themes, movie music, and even the ubiquitous Riverdance. Not to mention the breathtaking cover photo of Keith Lockhart on the State House balcony facing away from Park Street and its famous church and T stop...I miss Boston!

The Celtic Album or "Keith in a Kilt",
This review is from: Celtic Album (Audio CD)
Three cheers for CD number three from Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops!!!! The Celtic Album was just wonderful, and I loved Scotland the Brave, complete with bagpipes as the very first piece of the CD. This CD was just a great collection of music with a Celtic heritage (much like your truely). The Celtic Album, or the "Keith in a Kilt" album as I like to call it, is just as good as his first two CD and if there is one Celtic album you here all year, make it this one.

A really enjoyable album,

The Boston Pops Orchestra was formed in 1885, and since then has been world-renown for the excellence of their performances. In this 1998 album, the Pops turn their attention to the subject of the Celts of Ireland and Scotland, making wonderful performances of such wonderful tunes as Scotland the Brave, Riverdance, the main title from Braveheart, and so much more.
Overall, I found this to be a really enjoyable album, with a great mix of Scottish and Irish music. If you are a fan of the Pops, you will like this album. And, if you have Celtic blood in you, then you will love this album...like I did. I highly recommend this album!

A Scotish Boston,

Excellent cd and compilation by Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops. I have always been a huge fan of them, and this just strengthened my affinity for them. I am a serious musician and am extremely impressed with the style and portrayal of the celtic music culture. Even my friends and family who know nothing about music other than listening to it for pure pleasure are in love with it. A great buy!
