Good collection captures the wide varieties of Breton styles,
By Merrill Hess (Albany, LA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Celtic Brittany (Audio CD)
If you are new to Breton music, this is a good place to start. If you have been listening to Breton music for a while, this will be a good addition to your collection. Most of the first half of the recording has a more contemporary sound, with full guitar, bass, drums and jazz/rock influences. The pieces by Bleizi Ruz (Red Wolf), Jakez, Amzer Zo, and Gwendal fit into this style. Much of it resembles the recent works of Gwendal. The latter half of the recording remains closer to traditional roots. Overall, it is a fine collection regardless of your level of interest in Breton music. |
