5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely little pot o' gold..., January 8, 2001

I purchased this CD almost as an afterthought, since it was "bought by people who had ordered" the new Enya CD I was buying at the time (Enya's "A Day Without Rain"). (Yes, I'm an impulse buyer!) The irony is that, of the two CDs, I like this one far better than Enya's (even though Enya's new album will no doubt sell a bazillion more copies.)

Celtic Classics is a genuine little gem of an album: it's soothing, gentle, and dreamy, quietly evoking Ireland with warmth and grace and beauty. (I'm listening to "Danny Boy" right now, and it's really quite delightful.)

Ahhh, it'll soon be time to order Celtic Classics II, Tommy boy, I'll be thinking...

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is Definitely Worth Buying, July 23, 2001

If you are like me, you probably know nothing about Shanon, the group or person that recorded this CD. However, additional research helped me to learn that Shanon is actually Ronan Hardiman. If you like any of his other CDs (Lord of the Dance, Feet of Flames, Solas and Anthem), you will love this one. It has many traditional Celtic tunes that you are probably familiar with along with some others that will be new to you. However, it is classic Hardiman with soft vocals and simple melodies that are very enjoyable to listen to over and over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still a Great CD, February 15, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Celtic Classics: Enchanted Journey (Audio CD)
Personally, I am not a HUGE fan of Celtic music, but I do like some of it. Most of the Celtic music out there gets on my nerves quickly, but this CD doesn't! :) This is the best Celtic-New Age CD out there! If you are like me, and want to try something new, such as celtic music, buy this first. It won't get on your nerves, I promise! :) I wrote this review a long time ago, and I'd like to update by saying that I still love this CD. And if you like it, take a look at Celtic Classics 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Celtic Music - Relaxing, yet full of life., August 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Celtic Classics: Enchanted Journey (Audio CD)
I've recently become quite a fan of Celtic music. While listening to some of my other Celtic CD's I skip a song or two because I really don't care for the entire CD - but this one I listen to from the beginning to the end! Every song is as beautiful as the one before. I'm sure this will become one of my favorites.

This CD brought back memories of Ireland as told by my father. It is peace-filled and beautiful. I smile when I listen to Danny Boy.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a wonderful example of the best in Celtic music out!, May 14, 1999

This album gives a variety of feelings to it's listener that I have only seen in one other album. I can fall asleep to a relaxing melody or be filled with energy and want to dance while listening to songs on this album. Shannon is one of the finest Celtic groups out today, only paralleled by Richard Searles. This CD accompanies me everywhere I take music with me. It makes a great gift too, I know because thats how I got it!

This CD is full of haunting yet soothing renditions of some familiar and some uncommon Irish melodies. The tracks "Caledonia" (not the one you may be used to!), "Danny Boy," and "Music of the Kells" stood out to me the most. These songs still go through my head. This is some very lovely music--I wish there were more of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars sweet dreams..., April 5, 2007
This review is from: Celtic Classics: Enchanted Journey (Audio CD)
this will sound like an odd recommendation, but this is wonderful music to fall asleep to. when i was younger, a friend let me borrow the cd, and i used to listen to it every night to fall asleep. i've always had sleeping problems, but i'd often be lulled to sleep before the end of the first song--nearly always by the third. that was years ago, but a couple years ago i bought a used copy for those times when i can't get to sleep.

i love listening to it when i'm really awake, as well, but it's the best music i know of to dream to.

If you enjoy Celtic music or simply enjoy peaceful music, you will probably enjoy this CD. Track 8 is especially powerful and moving.
