I Love It!,

This review is from: Celtic Colours 1997: The Road Home (Audio CD)
I actually bought this CD after I bought the 1998 version, but I never tire of this stuff. Many people argue that it all sounds alike, but to the trained listener, this album is unique and phenomenol. Who would have thought that Ashley MacIsaac, the hard core, rebellious fiddler, could have contributed the most beautiful track on the album. There is something about his track that makes you remember loved ones, and visualize scenes of sorrow. As depressing as that seems, its not. It just evokes such strong emotion that I cannot really describe. That's why you have to buy the album. A pair of MacMasters (Buddy and Natalie) also make incredible contributions with traditional yet vibrant selections. Perhaps the most unique track is track 14 with Barachois. The concept of putting mouth music and stepdancing at the forefront of the track is truly unique and makes for an addicting affect. I encourage everybody to purchase this album because it really does capture the essence of Cape Breton.
