5.0 out of 5 stars truly outstanding solo guitar work, June 7, 2005
This review is from: Celtic Guitar (Audio CD)
just when i was about to wear out my copy of 'castelrea' which mr tozier previously released along come 'solo guitar' and 'celtic guitar' as a pair. his playing is distinctive and the recording is ultra clean and clear on both cd's. i liked 'celtic guitar' nearly exactly as much as i did 'castelrea' which is to say quite a bit indeed. in 'solo guitar' he plays his own compositions and he is not afraid to take chances with symmetry, metre and dissonance with his own arrangements although i admit this album was quite a change having only heard before his arrangements on traditional songs. i would not hesitate to highly recommend his unique talent to anyone no matter their musical tastes if they like solo guitar work in a mellow mode.

5.0 out of 5 stars That's What I'm Talkin' About!, April 24, 2005
This review is from: Celtic Guitar (Audio CD)
I really loved "Solo Guitar" by Jim Tozier, and waited awhile to put this one in, which was released at the same time by Solid Air Records. In some ways, this seems to be a mellower collection, and certainly more traditional - but Mr. Tozier's stylings, even when they sound simple, show a touch of grace that only years of work and experience can provide. This and his other new release (Solo Guitar) are CD's I plan to give out at birthdays this year to my musical friends and to my family - and I can tell you how rare that is - I've never chosen the same CD gifts for everyone, ever, before now.

This music is well worth your investment - both in money and time, and that, too, is a rare thing to be able to say these days.

Um, can you tell I like this CD? :)

I stumbled on music by Jim Tozier quite by accident and I am very glad I did! Tozier's style is a light classical touch - so very soothing. I am very happy there are no vocals to these Celtic songs because Tozier provides a hauntingly beautiful interpretation. If you like Celtic music, I highly recommend this CD!

...this CD by Jim Tozier! Great original work and playing that is inspirational. The recording is excellent, a finely crafted CD with super enjoyable music. I own both of Jim Tozier's albums. His efforts will be rewarded by great success with musical offerings like Celtic Guitar and Solo Guitar.
