The presentation is loaded with ancient Celtic folklore which pretty accurately cultivates the poetry, music, art and stylish writing of the Celts. The author recites his experience in visiting places like Gorsedd which are the stalwarts of academe. In this case, it's conferring the bard degree.
There is an interesting delineation of the Myvyrian manuscripts which consist of 40 + volumes of poetry with 2000 englynion or epigrammatic stanzas. The Annals of the Four Masters is another interesting literary conversation piece with a solid foundation in the destruction of churches and castles of old.
Here is a sample of the poetry: "For acuteness of valor, the Greeks. For excessive pride, the Romans. For dulness, the creeping Saxons; For beauty and amorousness, the Gaedhils."
Overall, this volume is a useful critique on Celtic literature and its origins and interconnectedness to British, Welsh and Irish literature. The Celtic vocabulary is complex to read for newbies to this form of writing. In addition, the author's characterizations are overly general for the present day discourse.
