More About the Author

Welsh artist Jen Delyth creates original Celtic paintings and illustrations which explore the language of myth and symbol inspired by Celtic folklore and the spirit within nature.

Her body of work spans an array of media including traditional egg tempera painting, oil painting, printmaking, textile design as well as computer illustration and multimedia animation. Limited Edition Giclées are made by the artist in her studio using archival materials and inks to produce Fine Art Museum quality prints.

Drawing from ancient metaphors and integrating the visual motifs and language of Celtic patterning into original new designs, Jen Delyth finds the symmetry of form and symbol that expresses living archetypes. Her work is stylistically contemporary, iconographic, reflecting spiritual and philosophical roots which embody universal themes that reflect her love of nature and Celtic symbolism.

"This ancient design medium is a compelling passion for me, that continues to enchant and yet somehow be the perfect way to talk about that which is abstract, sometimes invisible, and yet so essential".

A self-taught artist from South Wales, Jen Delyth came to Northern California in 1986. She is active within the artists' communities of San Francisco and remains closely connected with her family back home.

Recent work includes a series of Celtic Animations collaged with Celtic poetry and music available as "Beyond the Ninth Wave" interactive DVD. Her book "Celtic Folk Soul - art, myth and symbol" is a retrospective of her artwork and writing of the last 20 years - published by Amber Lotus 2008.

Jen's original Celtic artwork has been widely published and exhibited in North America, and back in her native Wales and in Europe. Published works include Books, Book Cover and magazine illustrations, Music and Theatre Illustration and the best selling "Celtic Mandalas" Calendar, Journals and Greeting Cards. Also featured on television, theatre, festivals and museums across the country, Jen's prints and paintings have been exhibited with solo and group shows internationally.

Jen Delyth established her business Keltic Designs - now Celtic Art Studio - in San Francisco in 1989, designing a successful line of textiles, jewelry and stationary including her limited edition fine art prints which are available through web site: www.celticartstudio.com

This is only my second calendar by artist Jen Delyth. As an artist myself I love the clarity of line and crisp colors in the designs in Celtic Mandala 2009 Wall Calendar. I do not know what medium the artist used for these but they have wonderful shading that looks good from a distance as well as close up...which can be a very difficult thing to do as celtic style designs become more complex. There is a tranparency to the art that is rare in a calendar that is priced for retail sale (not for art quality). On the last page of the calendar there are sample of the artists other works, which has inspired me to goto the calendar publishers website to order some of the blank cards with some of the same images on them (more and different that what amazon offers). To see the quality of the printing of this calendar I can only imagine the high quality of the Celtic Folk Soul: Art, Myth & Symbol art book by the same artist that publisher 'Amber Lotus' recently published. I wish I could put this calendar on something to auto-order it every year, so I do not miss one. I now know as I have the 2007 version of this calendar and it is of the same quality, that is you like this artist, you will want to collect more calendar's and art by Jen Delyth!

I adore this calendar; its gorgeous and interesting. A lot of people ask me about it; so, it's a good conversation starter. The artwork is complex, pretty and symbolic; I find myself figuring out the patterns when I'm stressed or thinking. I absolutely recommend this!

This calendar is gorgeous! I would even hang the calendar pictures alone if I needed instant, cheap artwork. It arrived within 3 days of ordering. I'm satisfied :)

I've gotten this calendar for many years now. The art of Welsh Celtic artist, Jen Delyth is wonderful. At the bottom of each page, there is history behind the symbols and art. Important to me are the phases of the moon and other events which are printed on the dates.

I liked this enough that I bought another one for 2014. A must for someone like me who had a grandma who spoke gaelic.
