3.0 out of 5 stars Looks like you're getting a lot but..., April 10, 2001
This review is from: Celtic Oracle (Paperback)
This set comes with a book, three sets of 20 cards each, and a perpetual calendar along with little new moon and full moon reusable stickers for the calendar. First off, the book doesn't really give detailed information on divination. It mentions that the Celts would fortell the future by the flight of birds, but didn't tell how! It just goes on to tell the different meanings of feather colors. The cards would be more helpful if they were study cards. The animal cards have a very nice picture of an animal on each and also a Gaelic name for the animal- and that is all. The book gives very short meanings for each of the animals and some tarot-like layouts. The tree cards are along the same lines with a decorative depiction of a piece of a tree and a Gaelic name. There are also "Celtic Wisdom" cards that have a saying or triad on each. I don't see myself getting a whole lot of use from the cards. The calendar, however, does look useful and is decorative. The book itself, while not giving enough of the information promised in the title, is highly illustrated and has pictures and details about Celtic saunas (the Celtic equivalent of the Native American sweat lodge.)
