Simply Captivating,

When I learned that Kathy Fisher (of the pop duo "Fisher" and songstress of many a commercial you've probably heard) planned to do a Celtic CD, I was intrigued, not knowing quite what to expect. I could not be happier with this CD and lack the adjectives to describe it. Captivating, breathtaking. Kathy's voice is perfectly suited to this genre and I can only hope that works such as this will expose more listeners to the range of her extensive talents.
If you like her voice on this CD, you can search for Fisher's other works sold on amazon and all over the web (True North, Uppers & Downers, The Lovely Years, One). I've been a fan of Kathy and her hubby, Ron, for years and am happy to share my kudos on this latest venture.

I felt compelled to write a review of my own after reading the one posted by another customer, calling CELTIC SANCTUARY "uninspiring" and somehow claiming that all the songs sound the same. I could not disagree more! To learn that Arkenstone had released a collection mainly comprised of cover songs was disappointing at first, but as I listened to the song samples I was immediately sold. I never even heard of Kathy Fisher until now, but she sure is a natural for celtic music. The Enya tracks are certainly among the highlights of the disc. I honestly prefer Fisher's voice to Enya. However, Fisher does expose her high range limitations in THE MUMMER'S DANCE, but I suppose the CD would have been incomplete without the inclusion of the Loreena McKennit hit. It would be really nice to see Fisher & Arkenstone back together again for more!

This is a must CD for anyone who loves Celtic music. Many of the songs are familiar from other artists such as Enya, Loreena McKinnet and Clannad but the Arkenstone touch makes them special.

A cover-laden snooze fest.,

What a disappointment! If I could return it I would. This CD is full of many badly done covers and a scant few truly "listenable" tunes. I sure wish I'd checked out the previews, but I love Arkenstone and I love Celtic music, so I figured this was a sure thing. Boy, was I wrong! The best thing I can say about this is, it doesn't TOTALLY suck, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.

Being a fan of DA, I ordered this prior to it being released. I was disappointed to find that it's just a set of uninspiring remakes.

Not my favorite,

I already own and love Atlantis & Echoes of Egypt, so I was really looking forward to the arrival of my Celtic Santuary CD. It was a big disappointment, the vocals were uninspiring and the tracks all sounded too similar to one another.

Pure Disappointment...,

I cannot believe David would even do something like this!. This is not only lame but a blatent rip off of some very powerful and beautiful music. The fact that Kathy Whatever even attempted to sing Enya or Clannad is a disgrace. Wow.. i really loved David's stuff before , but he must be grasping at straws now to do something like this.

I have always enjoyed the new age music of David and his career is well versed. This is yet another of his great CDs.. But where did that voice come from? And I thought to myself " Is it Emmylou Harris" and then I noticed the name Kathleen Fisher!
After the CD was over I looked her name Up.This magnificent voice seems to be missing .I looked her up first on Spotify-which told me virtually nothing! And then it was back to Amazon again. And now I have tracked her down. I couldn't control myself and will soon be the owner of one of her CD. Well done David. For adding her to your repertoire Buy the tracks for yourselves.Yyou won't be disappointed! |
