Another Celtic treasure from Will Millar
This CD is a wonderful collection of traditional Celtic sounds set to the ever-changing cycle of the Celtic calendar. The Uillean piece(track #10)played by young Northern Irish piper Patrick Davey is particularly haunting and will touch the souls of any Celts (and others) who listen to it! Apparently Will Millar (former leader of the Irish Rovers) travelled the...

Lovely, yet not outstanding
This CD is certainly a lovely collection of tunes, but I can not say they are remarkable arrangements. The music is somewhat repetitive, and predictable. I have other Celtic music that I would recommend much more highly. Lets see...all of the Secret Garden music is outstanding, although not categorized as Celtic, it has some flavor to it...Celtic Twilight, Vol 3 is one...

Another Celtic treasure from Will Millar, August 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Celtic Seasons of Enchantment (Audio CD)
This CD is a wonderful collection of traditional Celtic sounds set to the ever-changing cycle of the Celtic calendar. The Uillean piece(track #10)played by young Northern Irish piper Patrick Davey is particularly haunting and will touch the souls of any Celts (and others) who listen to it! Apparently Will Millar (former leader of the Irish Rovers) travelled the length and breadth of Northern Ireland to record much of this CD, contending heroically with the sound of British army helicopters on patrol over remote farm houses along the Border, sudden eruptions of pneumatic road drilling in the midst of recording on quiet Ulster Sunday afternoons, and well-meaning but infuriating interruptions by ever-hospitable Irish mothers offering endless "wee cups o'tay" to their musician sons and guests in mid-recording! The result, blended with some superb piano playing by Phil Newns and electric guitar from David Gogo, both of Vancouver Island, Canada, is a veritable modern-era Celtic treasure! Slainte, Will!

Lovely, yet not outstanding, September 1, 2009
This review is from: Celtic Seasons of Enchantment (Audio CD)
This CD is certainly a lovely collection of tunes, but I can not say they are remarkable arrangements. The music is somewhat repetitive, and predictable. I have other Celtic music that I would recommend much more highly. Lets see...all of the Secret Garden music is outstanding, although not categorized as Celtic, it has some flavor to it...Celtic Twilight, Vol 3 is one of my favorites...Davy Spillane's music is great also...oh and lets not forget Loreena McKennitt. If you have never listened to her, her music is heavily influenced by Celtic, especially her early offerings. She is outstanding and truthfully, I would pay any amount of money if I got an opportunity to see her because she is just that good.
