Absolutely charming,
By Steph (Cork, Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Celtic Tarot (English and Spanish Edition) (Cards)
I've bought this deck following my interest in the Celtic culture and I've found it to be absolutely fantastic.
Pictures may look familiar to those people into cartomancy because they repeat those of the best know Rider Waite deck. Nevertheless this doesn't spoil the fascination of this deck. Images are carefully drawn and they are soaked with Celtic atmosphere. The Major Arcana depict the Gods of ancient Irish pantheon while the Minor Arcana tell the story of the four populations that inhabitate Ireland according to Celtic Myths: the horrible Phomores, the warrior like Ulaids, the ancient gods Tuatha de Danaan and the chivalrous Fianna. Since I bought this deck I've been using this only although I have many different decks. In addition, the cards are made of good and sturdy material so they can be used more and more times without getting damaged. The pack comes with a small leaflet that explains an alternative way to lay down the cards although I prefer using the usual methods.

A Very Nicely Done Deck,
By Matt Helm (Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Celtic Tarot (English and Spanish Edition) (Cards)
I ordered this when it first came out and have used it off and on since. This deck does not come with an accompanying book, just a small fold out flyer. This is the reason why I couldn't give it a 5 star rating. A deck like this really does need a thorough book to go with it. The flyer doesn't due the deck justice by not going into much detail in the divinatory meanings, just a word or two, so I think this would be very confusing for someone new to tarot. I'm a professional tarot reader by trade and I would've enjoyed reading more about the symbolism used in the cards. The cards are slightly firm and have a nice slick lamination which makes them easy to shuffle. The artwork is amazing and this alone makes this deck worth purchasing. The colors used are bold and tend to sway toward the darker end of the color spectrum which I think gives it a more masculine feel than most decks I've seen. Don't get me wrong, I think the ladies will like it too, but men won't be turned off by it since it's definitely not a frilly deck. While the Celtic Tarots is very pleasing to the eye, it is still a deck of substance. You can tell how much thought went into all of the designs just by looking at each card. Every single one has a distinct story to tell if you open yourself up to them. Overall, I think this is a good deck to have, especially if you love anything Celtic.

The Perfect Celtic Deck,
This review is from: Celtic Tarot (English and Spanish Edition) (Cards)
I absolutely love this tarot deck. It's easy to transport and the pictures are fantastic. If you go to [...], there is a complete description of each card and the celtic stories behind them. (Don't just go by the leaflet that comes with the deck, it doesn't do it justice.) For anyone that feels a connection to the Celtic culture like I do, I would highly recommend this deck.

If you are into Celtic Mythology or of Celtic Heritage then this is the deck for you. The pictures are true to the Gods and Goddess of a time long gone by. The Artwork is flawless combining both aspects of the Celtic realm and that of traditional 78 card deck. The name of the card and or suite is in Gaelic on the bottom of the card. The English, Spanish, German, French. It is a must have deck to add to any collection.

Some of the artwork was wonderful but a lot of these folk had almost insane looks on their faces and differant types of races in this deck. A lot of the artwork was 'fuzzy' to see. Almost like a camera that was out of focus. The meanings in the lwb were hardly helpful for the minors and the lwb did state that this deck is for experts. Overall a good deck but be prepared for some graphic nudity and perhaps some almost gorey pics. No I don't go for the swords being a bright red fire suit and I don't buy into the staves being such a dreary air suit. Though if you care to, you can see the deeper meaning in the artwork if you care to look carefully beyond the obvious violence or graphic whatever. The emperor in this deck is quiet fascinating to me!

Whats not to like?,

This review is from: Celtic Tarot (English and Spanish Edition) (Cards)
This deck is somewhat of an anomaly. It is of a high quality design. The cards themselves are sturdy and should hold up for many years of reading. That is the problem. Readablity. I am trying to learn Celtic Mythology, yet this interpretation is not the best source. The major trumps are confusing with little information regarding thier origins. The chariot, which looks like the wheel of fortune, has skulls, I normally reserve for death, which has none. Get my point?
Lo Scarabeo is great at what it does. I have some outstanding decks from them. Usually the cards stand on thier own. This pack does not, as far as the Majors are concerned. Much more research and information should have been provided for the customer. The craftsmanship is great. The final product is confusing. The minor arcana is superb, with the best set of court cards I have ever seen. One more inconsistency of this deck. Perhaps one artist should have designed it. I am giving the deck 5 stars for effort alone. It is a nice art deck for the collector. As far as using it for divination, there are better packs out there. I will file this under beautiful, but impractical.
