Each member features with two songs, one a serious workout, the other a bit of pure fun and a chance to let the hair down! These lighter choices have George stomping around to The Proclaimer s My Life With You , while Ryan takes on the persona of a Chicago gangster with Bad, Bad Leroy Brown . Keith slips right into character with a Surfer Medley and Damian becomes a bit of a boulevardier with Standing On The Corner . Paul steps up to the plate as an accomplished song and dance man with the rooty-tooty Doo Wacka Doo , specially written by Phil Coulter. One big surprise package is guitarist Neil who not only joins Ryan and Keith in a haunting, close harmony version of Leonard Cohen s Hallelujah but also delivers a superb, soulful solo on the Disney classic When You Wish Upon A Star . The show is rounded off by a couple of ensemble numbers, featuring all six singers, the perennial Amazing Grace and U2 s anthemic Still Haven t Found What I m Looking For . All in all, this is an inspired celebration of wonderful songs and great singers, an uplifting feel-good package that is the perfect antidote to the recession blues!

I was at both nights of taping in Toronto. These guys deliver every time. They love what they do and they do it well. Individually, they are very, very good, but when they harmonize, they knock your socks off. Ryan IS "Bad Bad LeRoy Brown". "Hallelujah" is wonderful with Ryan, Keith and Neil. Damian is adorable "Watching All The Girls Go By", in creamy white, looking like he belongs in an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. Paul owns "You Raise Me Up" and "Doo Whacka Doo." George, the lone Scot, among the Irish singers rocked the house with "500 Miles" And of course Keith doing a surfing medley on his red guitar, was so appropriate for the "Surfer Dude". I had really stopped paying attention to music until this group of young men were showcased in "Celtic Thunder the Show." The musical director Phil Coulter has done an excellent job of selecting the right music for each young man's beautiful interpretation of proven covers and new material written by
Mr. Coulter himself. "It's Entertainment" will be a wonderful addition to your musical library.

I saw this amazing show when it was filmed for the DVD! Do yourself a favor and buy (preorder) it now! These incredibly talented singers will knock your socks off! My personal favorites are "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (an ensemble piece) Hallelujah (Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly, and Neil Bryne) and "The Surfer Medley" (Keith Harkin.)

Not "My" Celtic Thunder,
By Carrie Talarsky (Gainesville, Mo United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Celtic Thunder: It's Entertainment! (DVD)
Let me first say that I am a true Celtic Thunder fan. I have the first three CD's before this one, the xmas CD done by Paul, and I have gone to two of the live concerts. I would rate all of these 5 stars. Then we come to "it's Entertainment". I can understand the group wanting to try new things, but whoever picked out much of this music did not do right by them this time. This wonderful group of men deserve better. There are a couple of really nice pieces, but much of this CD to me at least, sounds like they are trying to sound like "polyester lounge lizards", and music like that you can get anywhere. Please go back to sounding like the wonderful Celtic group that you stand out as.
