5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music, Silly Reviews
I can't believe that people are giving this low stars just because it does not have all of the songs from the concert DVD (which is a separate product altogether). You really should rate the CD on what it IS and what it is not.

Besides, executive producer Sharon Browne posted on their official web site that there will be a 2nd CD containing the "missing"...

Besides, executive producer Sharon Browne posted on their official web site that there will be a 2nd CD containing the "missing" songs that will be coming out in September, and featuring a bonus track of "Danny Boy."

So my review of the CD, as it IS....

Wonderful! If you are looking for traditional Irish music, this probably isn't the album for you, but if you are looking for five talented vocal performers coming together to produce a terrific contemporary album, then hold on to your seats! Each song is beautifully arranged and executed to perfection, producing a coherent album that embraces each of the strengths of the individual soloists.

Definitely recommended!

These 5 lads may just be the next musical Phenomenon. Amazing voices, beautiful Orchestration, excellent song content. I can't stop listening to it. It is extremely rare that one finds enjoyment in an entire cd. This is that rare occasion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Music - A Breath of Fresh Air, March 19, 2008
This review is from: Celtic Thunder (Audio CD)
This is a fantastic new group of individual solo artists who collectively have a wonderful harmony. There is literally something for every one here. Stand Outs are Keith Harkin who wrote 1 of the songs he sings (Lauren and I) and looks like the surfer lad he is. We will absolutely hear more from him beyond Celtic Thunder. Ryan, Paul, Damian and George all have their own great vocal qualities and personalities. Ryan will do equally well as a singer and actor if he chooses to act (He's even a certified Accountant), George is well known throughout Scotland and the UK as a deep-voiced folk singer, Paul is a professional operatic singer since the age of 14 and Damian is an up-and-comer at the age of 15. A couple of the songs will melt your heart, and still a few more will cause your heart to swell with pride for Ireland regardless of what country you hail from. One song, "The Island" gave me a new perspective on the wars of Lebanon, Ireland and even our own US conflict in Iraq. Buy this DVD and CD - you won't regret it! This is one of the few groups I would really like to meet in person. I'll definitely be at their concert in Sacramento CA in Dec 2008!

Celtic Thunder is an amazing group of solo artists who each have wonderful voices. They each bring their own talents and personalities to the songs and they perform. Keith Harkin wrote and sings "Lauren and I", a beautiful and original song. Keith is an amazing, talented performer who composes, sings and plays guitar. Keith's guitar playing is excellent and he puts lots of emotion and feeling into each song he performs. Keep watching for Keith in the future! He is an upcoming artist and I hope he will be able to put a solo CD out in the future. I recommend buying Lauren and I and all of Keith's songs. Damian, Paul, Ryan, and George all have their fantastic vocal talents and personalities they bring to the show. All 5 performers compliment each other. Their harmonies blend together and they have the voice of angels. The songs performed on the DVD and CD are all excellent and speak to our hearts, our fears, and our blessings. "The Island" speaks to our political fears and hopes for the future. Very moving expectionally performed. I would recommend buying the Celtic Thunder CD and the DVD of their show in concert. All are EXCELLENT! Looking forward to the seeing the show in person in November 2008!

I ,like so many others, stumbled onto this show on PBS! I am so glad!! It was absolutely wonderful. I was a bit disappointed that all the songs in the show were not on the CD....but the ones that are here are worth the price and more! The only song in the show that seemed a bit out of place was Puppy Love....that one didn't do it for me....but having said that..the rest of the music more than makes up for that one. These guys can sing!! Thanks to PBS for airing this show...and to Amazon for making it available to all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Celtic Thunder ROCKS!, March 18, 2008

Guaranteed to please. These guys are the equivalent to the American Catholic group My Chemical Romance, only authentically Irish. "Raggle Taggle Gypsy" is pretty cool, too. Gotta get the CD from Amazon today.

Notice one thing as you listen to the cadence and style of their technique: it reflects the rising tide of religious and spiritual awakening of young and old across the world. The way of this group's sumptous sound most "resonates" with me.

ENJOY!

p.s. Click on the video referral beneath it for "Celtic Women." This is very lovely and lighter. But the German-Irish in me likes the pounding intensity of Celtic Thunder. --Sharon

I was thrilled when I first heard from a friend that a new Celtic Thunder CD had been released. I had been a fan since the early 1990s of the band whose albums such as "The Light of Other Days" were filled with songs of longing, rebellion, optimism and humor -- original and authentic songs embodying the timeless themes of humanity in general and humanity from the Irish and Irish American perspectives in particular. What a disappointment to find that the new "Celtic Thunder" album was a totally different act, playing off the Celtic Thunder name, and doling out the old sappy stereotyped standards mixed with retreds of pop songs from the recent past. Does the world really need another rendition of Danny Boy or Irish sounding Moody Blues music? If you prefer green beer to Guinness or Disney's Epcot to a trip to Europe, the NEW "Celtic Thunder" may be to your liking. If you like your drink and your music to be authentic, go with the original. An excellent primer would be the compilation CD, "When New York Was Irish, songs & tunes by Terence Winch" that was released in 2007 and also is available on Amazon. It contains a first rate cross section of Celtic Thunder's music along with some additional pieces by some of the groups members recording under the name the Narrowbacks. You won't be sorry that you went with the real thing.

What a fabulous show. Can't wait to see them in person on November 15th.
they're all great singers, but Paul has the most beautiful Irish tenor voice I've ever heard and Damien and Keith are so cute I want to adopt them. Haven't decided whether I want to marry George or Ryan (the older steady guy versus the yummy bad boy).

Relatively disappointing if you watched the PBS concert. Only 15 tracks, one of which is the piece the orchestra played after the group sang Caledonia. Uneven division of songs amongst the 4 with Keith singing most (4 or 5) of the songs on the CD with only one song by Ryan and two by Paul. Most of the 'emotional' songs from the concert: My Boy, Caledonia, She's a Woman, are not on the CD.
