4.0 out of 5 stars Scary, Sweet and Fun
I adored this book, especially Billy Carlton, the silent movie actor turned ghostly babysitter. The terror is there. The sense that every sound you hear might just have a supernatural basis is there. The bet thing of all, though, is the real sense of a spirit who although adrift from the moorings of his physical identity remembers and cares and tears through the veil...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ghosts was better
Like Ghosts, this starts out okay, has some nice little chilling moments that'll have you wondering what-was-that-noise? in the middle of the night. But aslo like Ghosts, the ending is not very good. I think Hynd suffers from a problem that plagues a lot of writers: they don't know how to end their stories. BUT, I reapeat BUT, if you go into this as a mixture of fantasy...

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't read this when you're alone and it's storming out!, June 3, 1997

This review is from: Cemetery of Angels (Hardcover)
This book made my spine tingle. This was so real, I was afraid to turn the page when Rebecca opened the door to the turret room. Being a huge fan of suspense, this one is the topper. The scariest part - could this really happen??

5.0 out of 5 stars A MIND-BENDING EXCursion into the supernatural., July 18, 2001

This is an atmospheric and sweetly scary tale, the type one thinks about more and more after finishing. I loved GHOSTS by Noel Hynd. This one is almost as good, which means very good indeed!

I think Hynd suffers from a problem that plagues a lot of writers: they don't know how to end their stories. BUT, I reapeat BUT, if you go into this as a mixture of fantasy and horror, it actually works on some level. It's has a fun pulse to it. No, it's not really horror, but i don't think it's all that bad either. My recomendation would be to read Ghosts first, it's much better and scarier. Then read this in the way you'd watch a comedy after watching a horror movie, a way to settle down.

4.0 out of 5 stars For A Good Fright, November 17, 2001

Noel Hynd turns up the fright level to full throttle in this novel. It is written so well it is like you can touch, taste, and smell the surroundings in the book. This is a quick read and recommended for anyone who wants to be transported out of reality and plopped directly into the world of a classic ghost thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cemetary of Angels by Noel Hynd Review, August 29, 2010

This book was definitely scary. I enjoyed the story and couldn't stop reading but it did spook me out! It seems like it will be just a mildly scary story but eventually turns into a horrifying story. There is also a romantic story which happens at the same time. It is a great book that I might read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Highly Enjoyable Ghost story., July 5, 2010
By
I love a good ghost story and this has always been one of my favorites. I re-read this on Kindle. There's no bad language, no gore, just scares and charm.

There may be a loose end here or there that i didn't follow, but in terms of mood, tone and character, Cemetery of Angels is a wonderful read. I'm a big fan of Hynd's "Ghosts," also. This one is almost as wonderful, but still is fun, entertaining and scary in its own right. I'd give 4 1/2 stars if I could, but will give the bump upward rather than downward.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, suspenseful read, July 4, 2010

I enjoyed this novel. It had some chilling moments, where I wondered why I was reading it - alone - at midnight, though I wouldn't call this a terrifying read. I liked the story line. It was intriguing. I liked the character Billy. I figured out the motive behind the original attack on the protagonist too early, though. In all, I found this a thoroughly entertaining read. Thanks, Mr. Hynd, for the fun read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Ghost Story, Quirky and Passionate, July 2, 2010
I always liked this work by Hynd. I'm assuming the revised edition is pretty much the same story as the original.......If I recall, this couple from the east coast move to the Los Angeles area and across the wall behind their new home there's this old graveyard...and strange stuff starts to happen in their house....and then their kids disappear and......

I remember this as a fun story, bittersweet but engaging with the requisite frights, one that I didn't want to see end. The characters are cool and California quirky, which is fine, and the story is sprinkled with film lore from past eras. Maybe this isn't as overall scary as GHOSTS by Hynd but it's still a first rate tale of the supernatural. I'm now about to download the new edition into my Kindle.
