3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but should have been WAY better
I agree with everything pointed out in this book. However, it is not a well written book, nor is it particularly well organized. If I had been the editor I would have reduced it to around one hundred pages, maybe eight to ten chapters (instead of thirty-four) and eliminated the constant repetition of ideas and anecdotes. It probably should have been arranged...

5.0 out of 5 stars One good reason to avoid this book: NONE, May 5, 2009
Really, there isn't a good reason to avoid this book or as Alan Colmes (believe it or not) puts it, "you should not [stay way from this book]."

Whether we love to hear Rush Limbaugh do Barney Frank impressions and tell us about the clowns in the elected office or Alan Colmes praise Obama for reaching out to America's enemies and describing whether his stimulus plan is right, there is one thing all Americans left and right need to agree on: not only Freedom of Speech, but also our choice to listen to whatever we want, are under attack.

Brian Jennings even describe how nonpolitical talk shows like Christian shows WILL BE affected if the Statists and their army achieve their dream of government-controlled airwaves like from 1949 to 1987. Mr. Jennings also documents the history of the Fairness Doctrine, proves how liberal Democrats want a Fairness Doctrine in any shape, form or name in their own words even though the Senate has voted to ban the Fairness Doctrine conservatives have dreaded (never forget, however, that the Dick Durbin Amendment of possible regulations). He shows how America has benefitted from conservative talk radio and the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine in the markets and how and why the politicians wants to force us to listen to whatever they want us to hear instead of having the right to choose to listen to people like Limbaugh, Dr. Laura, Joe Scarabough, Savage, you name it all under a pretty name, fairness.

And the worst part is...this is all not a joke or exaggeration...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Whoever Cherishes the First Amendment, May 5, 2009
By
C. Tang (Stillwater, OK USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a must read to anyone who cherishes the freedom of speech. Disguised in deceitful terminology, the Fairness Doctrine has nothing fair in it. The left-wingers are threatened by the freedom of speech, especially by conservative talk radio shows, which expose many left-wingers' ideologies and hypocrisies that are detrimental to this great nation. Thus the left-wingers are currently campaigning for the reinstitution of the Fairness Doctrine: an attempt to control conservative voices.

If you care about the freedom of speech, you should read this book. It is time to get ourselves educated and not be blindsided by the politicians whose sole purpose of pushing for the Fairness Doctrine is to protect themselves from being exposed as hypocrites. The Fairness Doctrine is not only threatening talk radio, but it can also be expanded to silence the freedom of speech in the internet, which means conservative bloggers can be silenced as well.

Along with Mark Levin' "Liberty and Tyranny" I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn or enhance their understanding of our government.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jeopardizing the First Amendment, October 13, 2009
Conservative talk show programmer Brian Jennings raises valid concerns over possible reinstatement of the "Fairness Doctrine", which in all fairness, threatens our basic First Amendment rights, as Americans. This is another example of big government wielding power in areas that infringe on our civil liberties and personal freedom. They've done enough meddling; every time they interfere with our privacy and our Constitutional rights, we've also got to foot the bill. How revolting.

This country is already well on its way towards the disastrous effects of socialism; the more programs and policies that are inflicted upon us, the less civil liberties we have and the less personal income we're left with. It's a scenario that poses a very real and present danger to our psyche.

As Jennings implores, along with author Brad O'Leary in Shut Up, America!: The End of Free Speech, it's time for big government to start shrinking; not expanding. We're running the risk of becoming a nation of sheep, with no clear voice of reason to follow; just the bleating from the masses.

Censorship is just another way our government has the means to turn this country into a totalitarian state; we simply can't afford to let that happen.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sean Hannity Censors People, December 15, 2011
I have heard Sean Hannity yell at people on the air and cut off their microphone if they bring up anything having to do with the elites, the international banking cartel, Bohemian Grove, the CFR, or any other global organization Hannity doesn't want you to know about. So the fact that Hannitty is against censorship is a little hypocrytical if you ask me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Analysis of SPFs Review, September 30, 2011
I can't help but wonder why conservatives are so afraid of the Fairness Doctrine.
**Because Conservatives are intelligent people who are not fooled by this thinly veiled form of censorship that has the sole purpose of removing conservative talk show hosts from the air and effectively silencing the conservative voice.

If they are really so convinced that what they say is true, why would they care if people were able to listen to someone who disagrees?
**Conservative shows frequently present the opposing point of view. Hannity, for example features many liberal guest pundits who disagree with conservatives. Obermann and Schultz on the other hand have never allowed the opposing view to be presented.

What is the virtue in having commentators present one viewpoint ALL DAY LONG with no word from the other side?
**You really need to ask Keith Olbermann, Ed Schultz and their ilk about that.

Incidentally, if the media is REALLY controlled by the liberals
**Not if, IS..the media IS really controlled by the liberals
Why is it that Conservatives are opposed to the Fairness Doctrine, but liberals favor it?
**Conservatives oppose it because it's intended to silence them. Liberals favor it because it is intended to silence the conservative voice.

Maybe there's something Brian Jennings isn't telling us???
**Who cares about Brian Jennings..he's irrelevant.

I'm afraid the truth is that conservatives only care about their freedom to speak
**Uh, it's definitely the other way around. Fact is, the left wants to place limitations on the 1st amendment or even do away with it altogether

--but don't want to allow those who disagree the opportunity.
**"Those who disagree" are free to, and have every opportunity to present their point of view.
Conservatives have no interest in silencing the voice if the left.
It is the liberal who gets angry and violent when faced with the logic of a conservative. It's a matter of record that liberals have
at their disposal, violent thugs such as ACORN and SEIU whom they send to Tea Party rallies for the purpose of harassment and intimidation. When all else fails cry "You're a racist!"

Otherwise, why have the corporations gone wild in buying up our media outlets?
**You mean the liberal media outlets? These big corporations whom the left gleefully castigates are run by rich liberal democrats. They're buying up your media outlets (propaganda machines) hoping that they can become powerful enough to usurp the constitution, eliminate the 1st amendment and finally silence the conservative voice.

They want to brainwash us.
**What do you call what's happening in our schools, colleges and universities? It's no longer about education. It's about liberal indoctrination. Our educational system is no longer preparing students for successful careers. Instead the system is being flooded with worthless brainwashed liberal Obamatons with no marketable skills. My college professors tried to do that to me and failed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but should have been WAY better, December 31, 2010
I agree with everything pointed out in this book. However, it is not a well written book, nor is it particularly well organized. If I had been the editor I would have reduced it to around one hundred pages, maybe eight to ten chapters (instead of thirty-four) and eliminated the constant repetition of ideas and anecdotes. It probably should have been arranged chronologically. Believe me, I agree with the premise one hundred percent, but I really had problems focusing while reading it due to the repetitive nature of his writing.

This is a must read book. You won't be able to put it down. One way or another the left will try to censor speech. Don't let them. This is the next great battle.
