VERY DISAPPOINTING!, August 5, 2011
This review is from: 25 Cent Canadian Folder Vol. 5 (Official Whitman Coin Folder) (Hardcover)
I've been buying Whitman coin folders for decades for American coins. I recently learned that my best friend collects Canadian coins, so I bought FIVE Whitman albums for his use. They are ALL disappointing!
They are designed and manufactured in such a way as to FORCE you to buy more books, when that is ABSOLUTELY NOT necessary. For example, the Canadian dollar book #4, starting 1987, provides notches for ONLY nine coins per page with one inch spaces between them from top to bottom and 3/4 inch spaces between them from side to side. In other words, there is LOTS of room for many additional coins. THIS book, the Canadian Dollar book, starts in 1987 and runs ONLY through 2008 with four blank notches.
The Canadian quarter books are similarly designed. Book #5, starting in 2001, SHOULD be "current." The first two pages are for "regular issues" and, AGAIN, provide notches for only NINE coins per page. Regular issue spaces appear to end at 2006. The third page provides spaces for Olympic Commemorative quarters, but ONLY through 2009!
WHAT A RIP OFF!
If I had bought these for myself, I would return them for a refund!
I don't know what other methods of collecting Canadian coins exist, but I urge you to find something else instead of wasting your money on these. Consumers need to make their voices heard through their purchases or manufacturers will continue to take advantage of us!
