4.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful story about accepting life as it is dealt to you

My mistake. I thought Lynn N. Austin was the same Lynn Austin who wrote many other books. Not to be. This book didn't come close.

4.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful story about accepting life as it is dealt to you, June 14, 2002
This review is from: Fly Away (Paperback)
I didn't know if I was going to enjoy this book. But once I picked it up, it just grabbed me from the beginning. Mike is a WWII avaiation vet who has just recieved notice that he has 3 to 6 months to live. Mina is a professor who has just been forced to retire after 41 years as a music teacher at a college. Fate brings them together and forces them to acknowledge their own shortcomings and accept their faith in God's methods. Mina forces Mike to look to God for the answers and Mike forces Mina to actually live.

The story has wonderful characters--especially the grandkids. The world does look different through the eyes of children.

I would recommend this book to anyone--but have a box of kleenex near by--one just won't cut it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Faith can conquer all our fear if we look to God., April 25, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Fly Away (Paperback)
The humanity of the characters allows each of the readers to identify with one of them. Is faith enough to stir us to action, to get us through the rough times and to help us encourage others? After reading "Fly Away" there will be no doubt about the strength and faithfulness of our God. You don't have to be a 'Super Christian' to share your experience and to lead someone to the Lord. A quick read and definitely not a "romance" story. Do remember to pick up at least one kleenex though

5.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting Story, December 13, 2009

I have checked this book out because I enjoy books by Lynn Austin. I was not sure if I was going to like the book or not. Before starting the book, I thought that I should prepare myself for a roller coaster ride full of emotions pulled out. I received an opposite reaction. It was uplifting, and some scenes were humorous that made me laugh out loud. Some people might be living but be dead inside. The irony was played out really well in this novel. The book is about really living and putting your trust in God. The book uplifted my mood that kept me singing inside.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flying, Music and Faith rolled into one beautiful story!, August 29, 2011
This review is from: Fly Away (Paperback)

Being a fan of Lynn Austin's work I had no trouble reaching out for this particular title on the library shelf!
Married for too many years to count to an ex-RAF flyboy, I know the slightest sound of an engine in the sky will have him running out of the house to identify its source. Having flown twice around the world, most often at an altitude of 5000 to 6000ft (not counting the couple of 'canned' flights over Australia), he loves anything to do with flying, even his simulator!
The resume struck me as eye catching...A WWII veteran battling terminal illness and a former professor of music with struggles of her own...What possible common points could these two have?

In 'Fly Away' I discovered a poignant love story of two opposites who reach out to each other and find the faith and the courage to truly live. This is absolutely not a story about Eros by the way! Instead its very pathos evokes a quality that is sure to arouse countless emotions!
Mike Dolan is a man who grabs life with both hands and this is his final flight...As a Christian Wilhelmina Brewster feels it is her duty to lead this pilot back to God...
A beautiful story of two people who learn to trust the Lord's words:
'I am the resurrection and the life.
He who believes in me will live, even
though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.'

I give it 5 stars!

As a Christian author Lynn Austin never disappoint! Visit her website (here) for more information!

Blessings to all,

The book came very quickly which was wonderful! The seller said "new", which may be, although the book looked slightly old.
