The fourth season of "Burn Notice" brought Michael Weston (Jeffrey Donovan) one step closer to being brought back "in" to the agency and no longer being burned. The question for Michael is if he truly wants it as it will change everything in subtle and not so subtle ways including his relationship with Fi (Gabrielle Anwar). Over the course of season four Michael is teamed up with his evil twin and mentor Larry (the marvelous Tim Matheson who also has directed a number of episodes--bit of trivia Tim Matheson also did the voice for the classic 60's cartoon for the title character in "Jonny Quest")and he also has to partner up with the "enemy--Vaughn (the terrific Robert Wisdom seen previously on "Supernatural")the head of a private spy agency that burned Michael. In the process Michael burns by accident Jesse Porter (Coby Bell) another spy who is innocent and Michael feels the need to partner up with Jesse to help him to become legit again AND still solve his own problems.

Fox continues to do an exceptional job with the transfers for "Burn Notice" with a nice looking transfer that captures the gritty look of the show (shot on Super 16mm film). Unfortunately, the reaction to the Blu-ray release of season two means that we still haven't gotten a high def release for this show (it looked gritty for a very good reason--it's SUPPOSED to look that way)so high def fans will either have to suffice with the high def broadcasts or with the DVD. Audio sounds terrific as well with a nice, active surround mix.

The show is close captioned in English. We get the following special features: Deleted scenes ; Sam Axe's guide to ladies and libations a humorous featurette ; Burn Notice roasts white collar; White collar roasts Burn Notice; Best-laid plans: The stunts of Burn Notice; Gag reel.

This is by far the best TV show for some time to be on evening TV. USA has greatly improved their programming and the shows they air. This show is very engaging and what has me so addicted and delighted to watch is the characters and the simple humor. Great show all around

Psych: The Complete Fourth Season
Burn Notice has something for everybody, regardless of taste. It is well written, the cast is superb and the writing has stayed fresh throughout the length of the program. This is fhe finest American TV I have seen to date. Few programs measure up to the standards set here.

When you're a spy, you learn a special set of skills that help you do your job and stay alive. But what do you do with those skills when you are fired? That's the dilemma that Michael Westen has been facing ever since being fired from his job at the CIA and dumped in Miami. And it's also the premise of Burn Notice. Season 4 is as hot and exciting as the previous seasons have been.

This season finds a big shake up to the cast. Yes, Michael (Jeffrey Donovan) is still the main character. When he gets in situations that are over his head, he still calls on former girlfriend and gun dealer Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) and ex-seal Sam Axe (Bruce Campbell). His mom Madeline (Sharon Gless) is even still around to drive him crazy. So what's the change? They've added Jesse (Coby Bell) to the team. In the season 4 premier, Michael is trying to get some information for the puppet masters that burned him (so he can use it against them) and inadvertently burns Jesse in the process. So Jesse joins their team, all the time vowing to take down the person who burned him, not knowing its Michael.

Even given this extra character, the setup of each episode is pretty much the same. There's a case of the week that Michael is reluctantly drawn in to. They help a lawyer targeted for death by a biker gang. Michael and Sam get taken hostages while trying to help a conned man get his money back. A clinic doctor is harassed by drug dealers. Fiona and a client's wife get kidnapped. Michael even goes to prison to help a man escape before he is murder.

But each episode also continues the overall storyline. This season, Michael is closing in on a list of those who burned him, but he's in a race for that list with some very bad people.

Season 1, 2, & 3 were great. It seems as if the makers decided to go low budget for Season 4. I couldn't help but notice riffs in the story and numerous editing mistakes on just about every episode. I really enjoy Burn Notice... But I hope they get their act together for Season 5.

My hubby started watching this spy show, which is totally NOT my style. But I couldn't help tuning in even when I was supposed to be reading or doing some other project while he was watching. The writing is amazing, there is Love, Action & Adventure, serious Humor- I mean this show is hillarious! Burn Notice has something for everyone, it isn't your run of the mill 'spy show'. I've gone back to season one to start watching from the beginning, I'm hooked.
