These tomatoes were recommended to me by a friend. They are sweet, perfect for making sauces. Be sure to not cook them more than 20-30 minutes, or you will lose the sweetness they give!
Enjoy!

Tomatoes are good but they are not DOP. Buyer beware. Amazon is a great company but they need to moniter what is listed better.

I just purchased my second case of these tomatoes ( never had any dented cans) and all I can say is it would be hard to find better a better product. I use these for sauce and anything that requires canned tomatoes and I have never been disappointed. Also, as a bonus, unlike most you find on a grocery shelf, these tomatoes contain only 1% ( 20 mgm sodium ) per serving so this is a real consideration if cooking for someone on a low sodium diet.

I specifically looked for these tomatoes on the recommendation of friends. They are superlative in terms of taste and make a clear difference in my pasta sauce. Buying them by the case is economical. I will continue to purchase this item again and again.

I have been looking for great canned tomatoes for years. La Bella San Marzano are okay but these Cento Organic DOP San Marzano are at a whole different level. With Amazon pricing of $46.00 for 12 - 28 oz. cans and Prime shipping it's a real deal. The search is over. Grazie!Cento San Marzano Organic DOP Certified Peeled Tomatoes, 28-Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)

The description says "DOP Certified" and the photo shows "Pomodoro S. Marzano dell'Agro Sarnese-Nocerino" inscription, mandatory for the real thing. The cans we received today have neither DOP label nor the inscription. I mean, it's still decent canned tomatoes, but without DOP cert. they can be got at half the price...

I live in a small town, but just for the heck of it, I looked at Target and Bloom. I found them at Bloom for slightly over $4.00 a can - which is still less expensive than 12 cans with "free shipping".
Just thought I would share. I had never heard of San Marzano tomatos until I watched Giada Di Laurentiis. They are imported from Italy, so that's why they are a bit costlier. I suppose if you live near a Wegman's too, they probably have them there as well. I am always looking for the best deal! Cheers!

I have been looking for organic San Marzano tomatoes for some time and now I have it! Thanks so much. I have two issues, though. 1. It was not clear to me prior to my purchase that these cans already have "BASIL LEAF" in them and I would not have preferred that as I add my own fresh basil 2. Two of the cans were pretty dented--do you think this is a problem? Or...was it damaged in transit. It was double boxed. Otherwise I will be making several batches of marinara sauce.

I thought I was getting such a deal until I had cans that were damaged in shipping and I had to dispose of a few cans. They do make the most amazing Sunday Gravy though..

Are they real?,

There was just a news item that several shipments of Cento "San Marzano" tomatoes were impounded in Naples, Italy before being exported, because they were fake. I don't feel like overpaying for some regular Italian peeled tomatoes just because someone cheats and puts a "San Marzano" label on them. They probably weren't even "organic".
