Bought it December 2011, and like any drive that doesn't require me to keep up with a cap - you know eventually it's going to grow legs. This one slides to the edge 1/2 inch to protect the connector, although it really doesn't protect INSIDE the connector. Not a big deal if it spends 90 percent of the time connected to something, but if not, then you really haven't protected the device on the part that needs it the most. Kind of like winding chapstick out to use, then winding the chapstick back inside its casing but never putting the cap on - there's gonna be crud in there.

Speed wise, no complaints really on USB 3.0, I never benchmarked it because so often there's so many variables that account for speed, and I just wanted it to be faster than 2.0, and for the most part it was. You never looked at the copy window and said "Good Lord, 50 more minutes to copy two songs???" USB 2.0 performance was adequate, and while a major copying session got it warm, it was never too hot to hold or touch the metal.

So why two stars? As of 6/4/2012, it has decided that it's not going to talk to any more USB ports. As an IT Professional, one of my favorite quotes is "It always works right up 'til the time it doesn't." You don't get much notice on most computer parts that they are failing. One day, they just do. Telling yourself "it was just working fine yesterday" will not make you feel any better. Mine got a lot of use, granted, but isn't that what it's for? No broken pins that I can see, no visual crud that I can spy with the naked eye, but now when I plug it in, it blinks once or twice, stays solid another 1/2 second, then the light goes out. No mas. Never shows up in My Computer, nor Disk Manager (for those who know about the potential drive letter issue).

While it's very fast for 2.0 it can't handle large files any faster than 2.0 speed. Seems any file larger than 3 gig kills the speed. While I haven't tested many smaller files, I got this for the larger files. It's still a nice flash drive at a decent price, but don't expect super speed.
