A Lovely Trip Back in Time,
By Fernando Po' Boy (Grand Forks, BC, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Central America: How to Get There and Back in One Piece With a Minimum of Hassle (Paperback)
I have owned this book for over 20 years and the one at my library was well used before that. Mr. Richmond is an entertaining writer with a good sense of humour and an eye for the bizarre. It is more like a scrapbook with useful (for that time) information as it is full of pictures. He drove to Central America in the early 1970's, so don't buy this book thinking you will get current and practical information. It is a window on the past with its dictators, unpaved roads and a region undiscovered by mass tourism. I would highly recommend this book to those who have travelled in Central America and wish to see what it was like almost 40 years ago.
