5.0 out of 5 stars A Haunting Soundtrack, February 4, 1999

The music to Central Station has echoed in my mind since I saw the film four months ago. It stands alone as art in itself.

...and if you've seen the movie, you instantly recognize this beautiful piano number. The CD has variations of it, too. Mostly instrumental, all beautiful. A few songs have dialogue, and the last one has actual singing, and it's worth it to listen from beginning to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Pleasant Surprise, August 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Central Station: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Brazilian film scores are not so often produced. So, it was with great pleasure that the release of the soundtrack from Walter Salles'suberb film came to us. From the right beginning of the disc, you can notice that carefulness and talent were envolved to create a truly wonderful score. Wide opened to emotions and heartbreakingness, the soundtrack features instruments both from central and northeast Brazil, especially the ones used during the trip of Dora and Josué into the country's state, Bahia. I hope the success of the score of "Central Station" leads Brazilian film composers to produce more and more soundtracks, and to explore the possibilities of our own talents.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best film score of 1998!, January 12, 1999
This review is from: Central Station: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
There is a lot of beautiful music being written for films, but this score manages to stand out among them. Recorded with a small chamber orchestra, the bold arrangements echo the romantic emotion of the film. In many ways it's a throw-back to the way films used to be scored.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful soundtrack, December 12, 1998

Central Station soundtrack is as wonderful as the movie. It's a fundamental part of it. It's dramatic, touching and romantic. The movie wouldn't be so extraordinary without this beautiful soundtrack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Antonio Pinto, Jacques Morelenbaum: "Central Station", November 15, 2000

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely sounds from a great film, October 15, 2009

I would enjoy this CD even if I had never seen the film.Really beautiful, the music evokes the journey that Dora & Josue take. The opening theme tune is the stand-out track. It is a pity (and surprising to me) that I had to search for a used copy, as this soundtrack is no longer easily available. If Milan were to re-release it I am sure it would do well.
