This tool works well for finding out if your engine parts are warped or flat. Use on heads, block surfaces, intake manifolds, etc. Even fits in the engine compartment in most cases, for on-the-car measurements.

This straight edge was perfect for what I needed. I was redoing a top end of an engine and needed to check the major components for true. This worked perfectly for that purpose. Comes in a robust cardboard sleeve with a plastic slip on protective sleeve to ensure the machined surface doesn't become damaged.

I keep mine oiled up and have had no problems!

I purchased this item to check for warping on my engine's cylinder heads. Sure enough, I was able to identify warped heads quickly and easily. After being returned from the machine shop, I could verify the heads were true with this straight edge. This gives me confidence that the straight-edge itself is straight. The plastic sleeve that covers the machined edge is a nice touch and keeps the edge oiled to prevent corrosion. For the money, this is an excellent product.
