Although Grand Central fell on hard times following the decline of long distance passenger trains, and was borderline tacky, the terminal has been reborn to its past glory at a cost of $200 million. It is now a heavy commuter terminal.

Better with age: Everything you ever wanted to know about Grand Central Station,

This book was written back in the 1970s, and it gets better with age. Nothing since written has documented the story of, and pre-history of, Grand Central Station in the depth and detail that Middleton did. If you are interested in GCS, I highly recommend this book (if you can find it).
