5.0 out of 5 stars The Centrality and Supremacy of the Lord Jesus Christ, July 13, 2007

This review is from: The Centrality of Jesus Christ (Works of T. Austin-Sparks) Volume One (Paperback)
Sparks brings us back to the meaning of it all: The Centrality of Jesus Christ. The true church must return back to Christ and leave behind all that is clouding his pure image. This volume is a must read.

I believe Sparks' book, "The Centrality and Supremacy of Christ" is simple but profound. He discusses the person and work of Christ and speaks of how many Christians only have an "ill-defined" Christ. They received Christ, but have yet to "grow up into" him. They seek after 'good' things and seek to discover worldly ways of 'reviving' the church. All other pursuits will lead to endless frustration. It is only the pursuit of Christ, his person and his work, that will satsify.

This is where New Testament Church restoration is found. This is how the revolution will begin: The church placing Christ in the center again!

My favorite quote from this book reads...
"...you and I will never be Christians, or servants of the Lord, in real spiritual life and effectiveness beyond the measure of our inward apprehension of the Lord Jesus."
T. Austin Sparks

I haven't finished this book, because every time I pick it up I get about a page into it and the Holy Spirit stops me and I have to meditate on what I just read. As the title says, it's all about Christ, everything starts and finishes there.

I have only just read a quarter of this book and already I'm hooked, he reminds me so much of watchman nee, so easy to read , very clear and writes in a way that is totally revelatory , already I want everyone i know to read this book. He speaks of not only the importance and fundamental way we understand Christ in us, but has an excellent way of explaining the importance of the church and the power in the body of believers and how important, critical, crucial, corporate prayer is, and how powerful the hand of God works though it. And how important it is that we work not individually, but corporately. thoroughly enjoying it.
