A word to the wise, I purchased this vault at Lowes for a much lower price then advertised here. I will say I am very pleased with this purchase. With the recent increase in criminal activity due to the economy, and my long awaited desire to buy a vault to store my valuables, I decided that the longer I wait the greater the risk would be to loosing some irreplaceable property. So after some research I found this vault to be of suitable quality and comparable size to meet my needs. The vault itself is pleasing to the eye and contains an upholstered interior with adjustable shelves and that can hold quite a bit of merchandise.

Make sure you also purchase four 1/2" x 6" sleeve anchors to bolt this vault to your floor. You'll also need a hammer drill and a concrete drill bit. When you drill make absolutely sure you drill deeper then the sleeve anchor can go otherwise your bolt will not go all the way down and the top will stick out above the bottom of the vault and not properly anchor your vault to the floor, allowing anyone to simply rock the vault loose. Once you drive those sleeve anchors in they are never coming out no matter what. Your only solution is to cut the top of the sleeve anchor off with a pair of bolt cutters and move the vault over at least 3 inches away from the previously drilled anchors and start again. If you don't bolt the vault down a criminal determined enough can get some help and carry it out of your home and with enough time any vault can be cracked.

I did not order this from Amazon, but I picked mine up at Lowe's for $297 as part of their Christmas sales.

As far as the safe, I like it. Do I feel it will hold 12 long guns? No, not really. I've got my M4 (with optics), a 22, a .308 rifle (with scope), and a shotgun in it. While there is room for more, it would be crowded with 8-10 total long guns. I've arranged the shelving so I have guns on the left, and ammo on the right.

My only complaints on the safe are minor. When you open the safe up, it stinks of a glue like odor. I left the door open for the first 2 days I owned it to air it out. After that it's fine.

My other complaint is that on the combination spinner, the cheap decal that says Liberty safes was coming off when I unpacked it out of the box.

As far as function, it is fine. It bolts to the floor easily. The combination lock is very smooth turning.

A side note to consider is that the safe is approximately 300 lbs. empty.

All things considered, if you need a small safe with limited fire protection then this will work fine. If you have more than 8 or 10 long guns with optics, I would recommend looking at a larger size safe unless you want your guns/optics scratched up.

I got this on sale for 297.00 and for that its a GREAT buy. But comparing it to an american security safe its quality doesn't compare.

CONS

Their sticker-logo on the combination wants to peel off.. Super glue?
The steal is very thin on top I could take a grinder and cut through it in 2 mins.
No key... If the combination fails time to grab the torch...

PROS

Doors have tighten adjustments to get it more air tight
Nice shelves
Smooth combination
Nice paint
Heavy
4 point locking with 1 inch bolts
for 297.00 a steal. for 397.00 a good bargain. for 499 it's ok.

This is not a bad safe for the money. If you go to the Liberty website they have a excellent video on how easy it is to break into a safe. You got to get a real monster and anchor it down if you really want to stop a professional thief. That kind of safe usually costs about three or four thousand dollars even more if you want all the accessories. Most of us just want to keep out the kids and slow down or hopefully deter a thief looking to make a quick haul. The fire protection might help too. It is better if you can anchor it to the floor. But lets face it, at over 350 lbs loaded it is not that easy to carry out. You can pry these open but it takes two guys with heavy six foot pry bars to do it. It's also good for someone who lives in apartments and does have to move now and then. My dad always said it best, "the people who steal from you know you got something worth taking". One other tip, if your worried about your guns rubbing against each other, buy gun socks, they are cheap and will help protect your guns from scratches or rust.

I purchased this safe at Lowe's due to it being out of stock here on Amazon.com. Lowe's had it for $397.00, however it was the last one in stock in the entire KC area, apparently a remnant from the Christmas season. Lucky me.

This safe is everything one could possibly want in a value-level safe. Fire-rated, fully carpeted interior, flexible shelving, and a small footprint that will allow it to be placed in a closet or other hidden area in a home. I'm able to COMFORTABLY fit in mine the following items: 3 full sized AR/M4 type rifles all with optics, 35 thirty round mags, a handgun and 7 mags for that, and about 20-30 boxes of ammunition. I have things kind of spread out too, so could definitely fit an additional handgun and rifle and still have room to shift things around. This safe can likely fit 8 long guns with scopes or 10 if none have optics. In doing that, however, you'd lose all the shelving aside from the very top, fixed shelf.

For comparison's sake, before I found this one I was about to purchase a much lower quality safe from Bass Pro for $549.99. The poor economy and rush to purchase firearms have the safe industry bustling, and prices have gone up quite a bit in the past 6 months. This one is still a solid value and an extremely well made, quality safe with standard features you don't normally see at this price point. Shop no more and buy this one.
