Powerline Wavemaster Review,
By Electric Blue (South East) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Century Powerline Wavemaster (Misc.)
I started cardio kickboxing this spring, and they use the Powerline Wavemasters for more than half of the class time. I couldn't get enough. I had to order one for myself to use at home during my "off" days. I ordered mine straight through Centruy and it is awesome. Even in class, on padded mats, the bags will move around as you work on them. So I also recommend the "shadow boxing" technique where you move around the bag as you work out. This is only for thoes of us who "go at it 100 miles an hour" because there are some ladies in my class who never move the bag at all from punches or kicks. For my home model, I have it on carpet, and I went and purchased a sheet of that non slip grip rubber material and put it under mine. Works great keeping it in one place.

Well-built, mobile punching bag,
By
This review is from: Century Powerline Wavemaster (Misc.)
I found this to be a solid, well-built bag. It's easy to roll into a corner when not in use. The water-filled base is heavy enough to keep it planted during most kicks and punches. It does move and slide a bit, so circling it while working out is a good idea. My brother and I were using kicks and elbow strikes which knocked it over, then we read the manual states: do not knock it over. Oops! I would not recommend using shoes with sharp treds when kicking, but the material is tough and resiliant. I'm very happy with it. No complaints.

We've had other bags, but the Century Powerline has held up the best. I like the wider body, and the padding is a good consistency. We've had the bag for over a year, and it's survived regular beatings, kids, and a move. Great product!

Good Training Bag - Recommended!,

The Century Wavemaster Freestanding Training Bag is a decent bag for martial arts workouts. Our TeaKwonDo studio has about eight of these and we liked using them in our workouts. We were lucky enough to get ours locally and find it a very useful training aid. Here are my observations: While I really can't speak to the packaging or shipping of these, the setup really couldn't be easier. This unit consists of the hollow base and the striking padding. The Base can be filled with water (which we use), sand, or a combination of both. When filled with water it is weighs over 200lbs and can moved around by tilting it on an angle and rolling it. The pad is inserted over the base shaft and can be adjusted by twisting and positioning it near the correct height and locking it in place (see video). The assembled and filled unit is fairly sturdy, but it does tend to move and slide around when it is hit with force (see video). We usually use ours in the yard or on mats in our garage so the movement isn't really a problem for us, but this would make a racket on a house or apartment floor. The large base is not a target area and needs to be avoided when kicking. The base also rocks upwards and it would be possible to get toes caught under it on the bounce, so some caution needs to be used if advancing on the unit. The striking padding is thick enough to absorb the hardest blows, but the covering can be a little rough on the knuckles if gloves aren't worn for protection. The covering has held up well, both on ours and on the ones we use in class. This is a very good alternative to a heavy bag and really helps to develop better striking power. Recommended, with the above caveats. CFH

The product was fine. It is a stable punching bag. Just very large. I actually did not get the bag that I originally ordered. I have the wave master xxl. The problem was the distributor. This product took almost 2 months to receive properly. This was supposed to be a holiday gift. I ordered the gift in plenty of time and received the final product in mid January. After MULTIPLE excuses and really poor customer service I finally had a punching bag with a bunch of extra bases that took an extra two weeks to get rid of. This was a comedy of errors.

definitelyl a good product. I use it for krav maga training and it is definitely a work out. I filled the base with water oppose to sand. The bag is made well with foam inside to kick and punch as hard as you can. The only thing is that the base will slide, so I put a small area rug under it. This seems to helps keep bottom from being damaged and the sliding noise to a minimum. The fact that I did not have to hang the bag and need someone to hold it is why I would recommend this to friends. The height udjustment of the bag is great. It is not really portable, so be sure to have some area to keep/use it as you would and hanging bag.

Great bag for recreational boxing, great design as pictured. Easiest way to fill is by using a hose... otherwise it takes a while. It DOES wobble when you punch it even slightly... if there are no neighbours underneath then knock yourselves out... but in my case it's a problem! I prefer when a sparring partner holds the bag... otherwise I do more shadow boxing around it.

Wavemaster - should be more stable,
By
This review is from: Century Powerline Wavemaster (Misc.)
Overall a good work-out companion. Needs to be more stable. Filled with water the wavemaster moved around all over the place. Filled with sand it stays in place a bit more. Filled with sand it moves slightly with my punches. Kicks forget it...unless up against a wall
