5.0 out of 5 stars BTUs Aplenty!, November 13, 2009

This review is from: Century Tool 12,000 BTU 2-Burner Stainless Steel Ignition Stove with Tray (Misc.)
This unit really puts out the BTUs. Slight adjustments of the burner controls seem to have little effect on the flame until rotated nearly off (might be an issue if seeking greater control of heat). Our recommendation is to use durable cookware (possibly cast iron) that can stand up to a higher-than-you-may-expect level of heat. We actually ruined one Coleman stock pot when the non-stick coating completely flaked off. Not complaining; I just want buyers to be aware of the cooking power this thing produces. The built-in igniter lights the flame instantly, and the flame is perfectly generated and balanced between the burners. Water boils faster than ever. We chose a stainless stove for its resistance to corrosion near saltwater. Clean-up was simple using pre-moistened anti-bacterial wipes. This is a no-frills piece of equipment that really gets the job done. Our only complaint is that it does not ship with the Century stove carrying bag (we purchased it separately and it is adequate to prevent scratches and dust accumulation, but is nothing more than a zippered nylon, unpadded bag).

4.0 out of 5 stars Propane Stove, March 10, 2011

PROS: Perks coffee and cooks really fast! Easy hookup! CONS: Lid has semi rolled edges arond inside which are not completely rolled, careful when handling lid. Burner knobs doesn't lower flame very well. But it does its job of cooking!!

Have not used this puppy yet but believe it is well made. There are probably a dozen different stoves or grills of this size and I checked them all. I like totally stainless as I often travel around places that promote rust. Only problem I see is that you should carry it in its box to protect the control knobs from getting whacked by other camping stuff. You can use a variety of gas bottles by using different connectors that are easy enough to find. Good camping

Unlike my old stove that rusted and then trapped grease in the rust, this stove simply wipes off. It works pretty flawlessly, without any of the regulator problems my other brand stove had, and this one is made in the good old U.S.of A. Need I say more? It boils a couple quarts of water amazingly fast. I use it with a 20 pound tank and an adaptor hose. On the con side: the 12,000 BTU burners are a little bit difficult to adjust down to a slow simmer, slow enough for not burning rice at the finish. It helps to pull the knob toward you when adjusting the flame down, or else the flame increases again when you let go. Really, an 8,000 BTU burner option would be best for the slow simmer required to never burn food. These will simply extinguish before adjusting low enough for the likings of, say, an avid backpacker who might use this one on the patio, but even the picky backpacker will say it's good enough to work with as long as the cook is attentive. The tray is not easy to remove for cleaning, installed with screws. One must wipe it down where it is, but it quite effectively prevents spillovers from reaching down to inside the case. The grill simply lifts off, making cleaning quick and easy.
