Editorial Reviews

Cerebral Ballzy were born and raised in East New York's grimy core but instead of crying about it, they scream their way through a sprawling mess of 80s-hardcore and punk rock on their self-titled release via Adult Swim's Williams Street Records. Led by frontman Honor Titus and bassist Melvin Honore, Cerebral Ballzy works to restore something golden to New York's punk rock history balls.

4.0 out of 5 stars Suicidal Tendencies in 2011 August 3, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Shocked that there are no reviews for this I figured I would throw one up so people can know what to expect.

As anyone else who visits this page, I'm sure that most have seen these guys on Adult Swim. Cerebral Ballzy's record which is being put out by Adult Swim/William's Street, hence the reason for the advertisements is a very simple album to review. It is essentially Suicidal Tendencies revisited. This is definitely not a bad thing.

The album which clocks in at just less than 20 minutes is a quick, fast-paced, and hard hitting punk album with that same style as the great Suicidal Tendencies. If you want another ST album, this is it.

That is about the best thing about this. None of it is really great but then again nothing is terrible either. All of the tracks are hard hitting, and flow pretty well. Since they aren't long at all, the longest track is 2 minutes long, none of them overwhelm or wear out their welcome.

Overall it is a good album but again, nothing outstanding either. I am pleased that at least this style of music isn't completely dead and I hope to hear more from CB. They definitely show some serious signs of life even though they are lacking somewhat in originality. All of the loops and instrumentation is pretty basic punk. Nothing extravagant here.

Technically this is a 3 star/average album, but I'm giving it 4 since Cerebral Ballzy at least has the gumption to release something like this in 2011. If anything I hope they at least get a cult following so we can get a follow up album. I am curious to see what they can build on top of this pretty good base album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kick Ass! February 24, 2012

Love, love, LOVE this band and now my friend can, too, as it was a Birthday present for her. The day I got it, we played it at 'Girls Night' and had a blast. Everything came on time and was in great condition.
