Review of Ceremonies of the Lhasa Year,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ceremonies of the Lhasa Year (Heritage of Tibet) (Paperback)
Hugh E. Richardson, author of Ceremonies of the Lhasa Year, is one of the true experts on Tibetan life and culture from the 1940s to 1950s. He lived there as the British Trade Agent, spoke the language and strongly supported the Tibetans when they sought world recognition of their country's independence in the face of the Chinese invasion. The photographs are from his personal collection and depict the many religious ceremonies held through the Tibetan year, accompanied with precise explanations of the events. For anyone interested in the all but vanished Tibetan way of life and Tibetan Buddhism as practiced in old Tibet, this book is a must.
