Book Description

February 7, 2006
Rebirth! The C-Project has abandoned its shattered home base and relocated to a backup facility aboard an ocean liner. Kagami still has Ceres/Aya and the lab-created hagoromo - the celestial robes - but now he faces a new challenge to his ambitions: the return of Toya! This, however, is not just the miraculous resurrection of Aya's beloved, but the culmination of an age-old process that brings the long and difficult search for the hagoromo to a startling conclusion. No one whose life has been touched by the seemingly hapless yet ultimately indomitable Aya Mikage will be unaffected - provided anyone survives the deadly attack of a fully reborn Progenitor!

About the Author

Since then she has written and drawn some 50 volumes worth of different short stories and long-running manga series, including the fantastically popular Fushigi YÛgi, also available in English from VIZ. This is the last volume of the Ayashi no Ceres/Ceres: Celestial legend series, and boy oh boy what a finale it is! Some people die. Others come back. Ceres has her final showdown with Mikage. We learn even more about Mikage, and how things became so crazy between him and Ceres, and what happened to the hagoromo.

The ending is very bittersweet, especially for Toya, but in a way, realistic. This was definitely not a series for kids because of the death and incest, but it is still an excellent series, and is worth reading!

This review is from: Ceres: Celestial Legend, Vol. 14: Hagoromo (Paperback)
It's finally the ending of the long running series Ceres: Celestial Legends. In this one, everything is finally coming together. AFter the cutoff in volume 13, we see that Toya is truely alive. I couldn't help but gasp for breath. Since Yuu Watase is known for taking out some of her leading characters I almost couldn't believe it.
So much goes on this manga that you can easily get confused. We learn about the truth to Toya's past, and wow, is it one heck of a past life...no wonder he forgot about it. Many die, and we see the conclusion between the twins, Aki and Aya. THe ending was a little bittersweet though. We know that Toya is alive and that he and Aya are happy for the coming of their baby. Only problem is, is that now that Toya no longer has the mana, he won't live forever and heal instantly. Actually he doesn't know whe he's going to die...so Yuu Watase, yet again. So, he has Yuhi promise that once he is gone, that he will take care of Aya and the baby. Good that Toya and Aya end up together finally, but it is sad that we know they might have anywhere from a few weeks to a few years to enjoy it. Overall it was a good series and full of the heart wrentching work Watase-sensei is known for.
