Here is another adventure by the author of the popular Fushigi Yugi manga series. Aya’s trip home turns tragic when her mother lunges at her with a knife, thus triggering her sudden transformation into Ceres. Later Aya travels to the Mikage Corporation headquarters, knowing that the powerful company is being targeted for destruction.

Since then she has written and drawn some 50 volumes worth of different short stories and long-running manga series, including the fantastically popular Fushigi Y?gi, also available in English from VIZ. 5.0 out of 5 stars The second Ceres, Celestial Legend manga, October 24, 2002
This review is from: Ceres: Celestial Legend, Vol. 2: Yuhi (Paperback)
Yuuhi Aogiri is a fairly regular guy living in Japan. He's popular at school, knows martial arts, and can cook pretty darn well too. But his whole life changes one day when his sister-in-law Suzumi, a dance teacher, asks him to pick up someone for her one day. So, Yuuhi goes off and ends up rescuing Aya Mikage, a sixteen-year-old girl in a seriously bad sitch. Aya is a direct descendant of the celestial maiden named Ceres. However, Ceres only wants revenge on the man who wronged her and stole her robes, and she vows to "destroy all the Mikage". Without the robes, Ceres is unable to return to heaven. Aya's life is changed forever on her sixteenth birthday when her family tries to kill her. But Aya manages to escape, and she comes to live at Aogiri household, though every day worries about her twin brother, Aki, who was taken away from her on her birthday. Aya begins to grow on Yuuhi. A lot, actually. The scene in which they're getting to know one another is so cute. Yuuhi is still acting pretty skitzy whenever Toya (Aya's rescuer and object of her affections) is around, though. Toya and Aya fans won't be disappointed with this volume, either! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars This series will always keep getting better., November 26, 2004
Yu Watase will always be one of my favorite comic artists for doing this seies. She keeps Ceres: Celestial Legend going along smoothly and leaves you wanting more at the end, like any good comic series would. The characters are really great and they fit so nicely into the series. I would definately recommend this series to you.
In this installment, Aki goes to the Aogiri's house to finally be reunited with his twin sister again. Unfortunatley, Ceres attacks him because he's {she believes} the man who stole her Celestial robes {hagoromo}!! So Aki has to go back to the Mikages. Aya, after this unfortunate accident, spends some lovey-dovey time with Toya. When that's over, Aya follows Toya to the Mikage corporation, only to be attacked by Kagami so Ceres can come out. And unfortunately, she does.
I higly recommend this series to you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Yuu Watase does it again!, June 28, 2003

This review is from: Ceres: Celestial Legend, Vol. 2: Yuhi (Paperback)
The first work of Yuu Watase I read was Fushigi Yuugi, which kept me always wanting for more. When I found out about Ayashi No Ceres, I knew I had to read it.

And, was I surprised about it!

This totally goes in a different way than FY. Although we have our classic teenager, Aya, trying to find her way in the world, it is so different when she's in a constant hunt by their own family, but most of all by the inner force inside her. It really takes inside the story, and keeps you in it. I would say it's more mature than any other of Watase's works (there's some killing going on), but nonetheless it's part of the story-line, and what makes you understand the feeling and the situation Aya is living. We also have our comic relief there.

If you love mystery, humor and romance, this is a must-read for you!
