Product Description

High Quality with Simple Operation You will enjoy quick and easy operation by simply connecting the LiveShell to a camcorder via the included HDMI cable and turning the power on. You will experience broadcasting beautiful video and crystal clear audio from a high-end camcorder (sold separately)! Compared to a webcam, the video quality that you get from a camcorder is significantly higher. Stable Operation without PC Have you ever experienced difficulties because trouble occurred with a personal computer or streaming software when important live streaming is in progress? One of LiveShell's selling points is the ability to do stable broadcasting for long periods of time. When using the included plug-in power adapter you will be able to stream video 24hours a day. Remote Operations from PC or Smartphone A dedicated control screen called the "Dashboard" is used for operating the LiveShell. All operations including volume control, video quality adjustment, recording start and stop, etc. can be done from a personal computer or a smartphone. The screen is easy to understand, and uses an intuitive touch operation. This remote operation is done via the Internet, so as long as you have a smartphone, you can go leave the streaming site. Rich Input Terminals In addition to the video and audio input from an HDMI, both line input (L/R) and microphone input (L/R) have been provided. Broadcasting can be done after doing mixing internally within LiveShell. An analog composite video input has also been provided so that old camcorders can be used as well. You can simultaneously connect with an HDMI cable and you will be able to switch to any video source from the 'Dashboard'. Inserting still images into videos as well as inserting subtitles can also be done easily.

Customer Reviews

Cerevo should make it clear that this device does NOT stream HD quality video.

Then found a note on the manufactures web site that states the "non-pro" version does not support Youtube Live - you need the Pro version for that.
Jim
That may be possible if you have special housing, a portable 3G or 4G connection with unlimited data.

I purchased one of these for weekly streaming of church services and I've been extremely happy with it. Once set up (about a 10 minute registration process), all you need to do is turn the device on and it automatically starts live streaming. Video can be start/stopped streaming and start/stopped recording from any internet connected computer or smartphone. Connecting to wifi and other more detailed tasks are also done easily via the desktop/mobile UI.

Lowest price on the market for this type of product and it works ideally for us.

I purchased the Cerevo Live Shell to live stream my church's services over Youtube/Google Hangouts. Turns out the device doesn't work with the Google Hangout service, only Youtube Live, which is only available to select "Youtube Selected" accounts. I can't speak to LiveShell's abilities because I've never been able to use the device. So, if you're thinking about purchasing this and you use the Google Hangout service that imports directly to Youtube, be aware that this product does NOT support that feature. Do a little more research than I did!
***UPDATE***
We decided to upgrade our streaming with a paid provider. We chose LiveStream because of its price point ($45/month vs. UStream's $99/month). Because everywhere on the box and product material it states that the LiveShell is compatible with LiveStream, we re-purchased this device. As we were trying to set it up (with no success), we stumbled upon the fact that LiveStream no longer supports RTMP streaming with the new LiveStream service. The LiveShell device worked wonderfully with UStream in our tests, but the UStream platform requires users to sign up for a paid account in order to not view ads, which doesn't work for us.

Here's the takeaway: UNLESS YOU'RE PLANNING ON USING USTREAM, THIS DEVICE IS WORTHLESS. If you're a LiveStream user, for an additional $50 (once you take into account the 3 free months of service included with the device), you can purchase the LiveStream Broadcaster, which is specifically designed to work with LiveStream.

It's cheaper than the other similar products- works best when connected to a strong signal. But even in low 3g the Cerevo seems to find its way to the internet and put up a show. It will adjust its fps due to connection on the fly. If you want to walk around and go live to a channel like ustream or your own RTMP address it's perfect. I used a mi-fi card from Verizon to add internet to my pocket for the mobile connection. When connected to cat 5 cable DSL the unit is strong good picture. Fact is its a streaming device that can take the laptop out of the setup! It has a really fun dashboard that you can do many things to your stream like overlays and messages. I really like the pause feature where it holds your connection & blacks out the screen but keeps up the "LIVE" icon or message up til you hit start again. You can remote start and stop from the dashboard or the unit- never seen that before - way cool! Fact is for the money buy it to go live or if your pocket is full of cash than go spend $2000.00+ more on the cube...

I bought the Liveshell for under $300. Got it set up real quick to stream to justin.tv and livestream. The piece is pretty small too so I can drop it in my pocket and change batteries whenever I need to. Easy to use, reliable, low price. I would recommend.

This doesnt support Youtube Live anymore. Beware. This is the reply i got from customer support, which is only over email & takes a couple of days to get any from them

We confirmed that YouTube Live had changed their specification in May 2013.
And now they support only H.264/AAC or H.264/MP3.
The LiveShell does not support H.264 cause of its hardware specification.
Thank you for your understanding.

It works - but it's not HD, which kinda sucks. I bought this or a HD camera, but you don't get HD feed on the other end. Why are there non-HD products still available today? So yesterday. However - it DID work flawlessly - just didn't meet my expectation of HD. (I know, I know - it says High Quality - but WHAT is High Quality? The build, the construction, the concept? The description is vague).

Just started to use this. Works well with my Sony camera. would be nice to have some way to mount it better to another device rather than it just kind of hanging there. Seems to find Wi-Fi pretty well. I do think it's a bit overpriced for what it does.

The Liveshell works really well with my Sony HDR-CX260V camcorder. I use it to stream my son's little league games onto YouTube Live and sometimes USTREAM for all of the parents to watch from home or on the go w their iPad, etc.

I love how I can start streaming on the fly without a PC and the ability to use any broadcasting site through the Cerevo app App on my iPhone.. video quality is great and the set up takes under 5 minutes....!!

Price was cheaper than the other products on the market too.... love it....!
