Book Description

November 1999
Stories from the heart, written by family members telling the struggles, cares, hopes, love, and dreams that are inherent in raising children with special needs.

As we travel through life it is probable that within that journey we experience some sort of love. Whether that love is shared with a parent, sibling, friend, mate, or child, it is certain. Our true stories enable you to share "a certain kind of love" first hand through the experiences and lessons that have challenged our families. You will feel the deep love, cry at the heartache, laugh with the children, and learn from the hard truths of living in the world of special needs. Come join us in our homes.

Editorial Reviews

Review

I can't adequately express how moved I was by your book. I read it slowly, over several weeks, and went back and re-read many chapters. I can't remember when I have read a book that stirred and shook me so much. I believe you have something very special here; a special book about special families. I am honored that you asked me to read it. It's astonishingly good. I especially loved, the more I read, the simplicity and 'neighborliness' of the writing. I felt as though I was listening to real, breathing, suffering, uplifting people. Thank you for the privilege of being one of your first readers. -- -Hamilton Salsich educator, writer

This is a book that merits the attention of every teacher and every family with a special needs child. These are stories from the heart, stories of families with special needs children. It is truly a book that will enrich everyone who reads it, as special needs children enrich the lives of those they touch. -- -Alan Shawn Feinstein, Feinstein Foundation

This is indeed a touching and compassionate book. I was most impressed by the strength and determination shown by the people whose stories are recounted here. The writing is both engaging and well-presented. -- -Mary Carol Kendzia, Twenty-third Publications
