5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic New Glitch-Hop
After hearing just 3 seconds of his music, it's clear that edIT is one incredibly talented electronic producer. For years, hip-hop has been asphyxiating on its own poor conceited material. edIT has breathed the life of electronic dance into hip-hop beats in a truly masterful way. 3.0 out of 5 stars A new flavor for edIT
I have listened to more than the first three seconds of this album, and I found it to be a disappointment. I have somewhat particular tastes, but found this album to be a little obnoxious with the choices in beat style and sound. I feel like there's no lack of talent displayed on the album, but felt it almost a whole different genre than edIT's first album, "Crying Over...

After hearing just 3 seconds of his music, it's clear that edIT is one incredibly talented electronic producer. For years, hip-hop has been asphyxiating on its own poor conceited material. edIT has breathed the life of electronic dance into hip-hop beats in a truly masterful way. The bass is thick, heavy and dark, with beats that are crafted with a polyphony I've never heard before. "Artsy Remix" stands out as one of my favorites: its a great beat delivered with an edgy anti-conceited message. Every track from Air Raid Material is a masterpiece, making it completely worth it to buy this album.

I can't wait to see more from edIT

I have listened to more than the first three seconds of this album, and I found it to be a disappointment. I have somewhat particular tastes, but found this album to be a little obnoxious with the choices in beat style and sound. I feel like there's no lack of talent displayed on the album, but felt it almost a whole different genre than edIT's first album, "Crying Over Pros for No Reason"--an album I would give very high marks to. Certified... has a much more agressive vs. chill sound to it, and doesn't sit well with me. C.A.R.M. may just not be for me, but I think lovers of the first album should be cautious when considering purchasing this album based on past reputation.

The album as a whole is very strong compared to most acts who pad an album with 1 or 2 hits. This has 4 or 5 really great songs that stand up. Good thing Pandora is playing it quite a bit or I'd have missed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars first Prefuse...now comes edIT, September 23, 2010
This review is from: Certified Air Raid Material (Audio CD)
i was floored the first time i heard prefuse 73's "vocal studies and uprock narratives" album. i loved the melding of these two different musical types and the use of vocal cut-ups. when "certified air raid material" was released i got it immediately. i had high hopes after buying, the equally satisfying yet more melancholy & idm-ish, "crying over pros for no reason" cd. "C.A.R.M." is a criminally overlooked and under-appreciated achievement. it is a perfect blend of idm/glitchy electronic music and tight "underground" hip-hop. the whole album is awesome and the first three tracks are some of my favourites of the last decade. the dazed & confused sample of parker posey in the title cut is rad. it's a great turning point for the song to head off in another direction. edIT's production on "artsy" is definitely more effective, than the grouch's originaux, in getting his anti-hipster douchebaguette sentiment across. this is one of those albums that wouldn't leave my alone...like four tet's "rounds", rjd2's "deadringer" & "since we last spoke", the avalanches "since i left you", wax tailor's "tales of the forgotten melodies", dilla "donuts", the highlife movement, layo & bushwacka "low life", cunninlynguists "piece of strange"...and so on.......if edIT and glitch mob are ever playing in a theatre near you...GO

1.0 out of 5 stars H U G E disappointment, March 28, 2011
This review is from: Certified Air Raid Material (Audio CD)
after "Crying Over Pros for No Reason" it is simply impossible to be impressed by this album. Equally strange and sad that such a talented artist produce such a generic product after proving that he really knows how to inject soul and emotion into glitch. Certified Air Raid Material simply has non of it. What happened ????

2.0 out of 5 stars Yeah, not as good. Too much rap cliche', January 12, 2010
The LAST thing I want to hear is "hooo heeeyy hooo" in glitch and electronica.

Its like he went to a party and didnt feel "cool" enough after Crying Over Pros ("Laundry" was one of the greatest songs in this genre to date) and his rap thug "friends" werent going to be impressed unless he did the SAME EXACT THINGS they do.

Its like he made this GREAT sequel to CoPFnR and then added in all this CRAP rap mouth garbage.

Seriously, 1988 through 2009 called, they all want their "HEEY HOOO UHH-HUH YEAHs" back.

Man, eDiT, whats WRONG with you?

Sellout!

I bought it anyways, I'm using Audacity editor to take out the crappy gangsta wanna-be poser sound effects. Theres enough idiot jackholes wearing hoodies around here.
