Book Description

September 2003
Antarctica, 1995.

Scientists make an astonishing discovery; a new species of seaweed - Azurophytae. Researchers soon discover that this new plant holds a wealth of medicinal properties, in particular, anti-aging benefits. Quickly known as Cerulean Blue, Azurophytae is refined and developed into an anti-aging, cryonic-like preservative.

Facing a deteriorating ecology, United Nations Corporation's Chairman, Reginald Erlichmann, devises a plan to "Save the World" from itself. The plan is to combine the discovery of the Azurophytae with the science of Cryonics to place a percentage of the population into a Cerulean Blue induced hibernation for 30 years in order to give a wounded planet a chance to heal from the vast pollution and over-population that threatens the existence of all mankind. Erlichmann uses the power of the media, the influence of the Corporation, and the blind obedience of those who strive to be politically correct to convince Europe and the Western World that his plan is the only option.

Although embraced by the majority of the world, there are groups who do not trust the noble intentions of Uni-Corp and suspect that the plan is an attempt at world domination.

In the midst of this is Harold Womack. Awake and aware in the world in which he lives, Womack stands as a watchman and has spent a lifetime preparing himself and his family for the troubles caused by the sudden appearance of the global United Nations Corporation.

Womack's eldest daughter, Lynn, an eager young scientist, finds herself working for the new Uni-Corp. Present in the discovery and development of the new seaweed, Lynn unwittingly discovers a communiqué from Uni-Corp Headquarters to her superior discussing the true intent of Erlichmann and Uni-Corp. Suddenly finding herself in danger, she makes a desperate attempt to warn her father before she vanishes from existence.

Harold Womack receives the warning from his daughter and escapes with his family to the jungles of South America. Not knowing the fate of his daughter, Womack begins to search for her and soon becomes entangled in a war between Uni-Corp and the rebel insurgents who oppose them.

Harold Womack is now one man trying to find his daughter in a world even he never believed could exist.

Cerulean Blue is a tale that inspires thought and awareness of the individual's responsibility toward their own destiny and the dangers of willful compliance.

About the Author

Wray Miller was born in 1955, in Tucson, Arizona, to a Railroad Brakeman and a Telegraph Operator both employed by the Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1960, the family relocated to the Ozark Mountain Region in Missouri where she spent the young and formative years of her life in a small rural community. As a child, Wray Miller dreamed of being a writer, but never had the opportunity to pursue it.

In 1972, after the death of her father, she and her mother returned to Tucson where she met and married a young Vietnam Veteran still serving in the military. Being married to an Army-man presented new opportunities for Wray, like world travel. After spending several years traveling and exploring The United States and various other countries, she settled down to raise her three children in Central Maine.

In 1992, she moved to Jerusalem, Israel with her family, where she pursued her lifelong goal and began work on her first novel entitled Cerulean Blue. Using experiences from her life and many travels mixed with her unique storytelling abilities, she constructed a story that in her own words "Would provoke thought and bring awareness about the dangers the individual faces by accepting the spoon-fed reality given to them by the New World aristocracy."

Wray Miller presently lives in Reno, Nevada with her family. She works in a local office for an international corporation, and is currently working on her second novel, the sequel to Cerulean Blue - Alizarin Crimson.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cerulean Blue, April 4, 2004
This review is from: Cerulean Blue (Paperback)
What is science fiction today may be the truth tomorrow as space travel and medical reasearch has proven time and again. And thus it may come about that the author of Cerulean Blue has seen the future (if we aren't careful). Scientists working in the South Atlantic discover a blue seaweed and set off a series of events that changes the world. The world is divided into two camps, one ruled by UniCorp that is ruled by one man, and the other camp ruled by the Chinese. The two have squared off and wait the inevitable war, but in the meantime, UniCorp has its problems with a few groups that oppose them and what they stand for. One such group is led by Harold Womack, a man trying to protect his family and who doesn't see himself as a world savior. Womack is, however, considered number one enemy by UniCorp and they pull out all the stops to catch him. Cerulean Blue is written by a talented author, Wray Miller, who takes us forward in time to what seems a possible replay of history, yet there is much more to this story and it is well worth the time to read it. You will be left consider how things are and ought to be, and the question, 'Could this happen' will bother you because you know it could. This is a well written, well thought out story and comes highly recommended by this reader. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars I have 10 friends waiting to read this book!, February 16, 2004

Joe Wryals (Polk City, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cerulean Blue (Paperback)
Wow! I received "Cerulean Blue" on 2-04-04 and read 150 pages, on the 4-5-6 each and finished it on Sat. the 7th. I could not put it down once I picked it up. :)

Web Griffen has been my favorite writers since 1988 but I think I now have a new favorite. :) Really with Griffen I have read his different series "Brotherhood of War" - Army 25 times, all except the last one. His Corps series 15 times, except the last one. And his Police one, 7 times, except the latest ones.

When I finished "Cerulean Blue" it was just like having to leave some people I was just getting to be friends with. While I know that the book is fiction - The Author brings out the people very, very well. The love that Shelby shows, not only to her family but also to others has to have been lived. And while Lynn, Patsy, Lily, Curt and Harold are all fiction - I will surely believe there were role models somewhere.

I hope to be able to read more novels by Wray Miller - and continue to get to know my new friends. I have 10 friends waiting to read it and will tell them to tell their friends and families to buy copies also.

I will let the VVA librarian read it and ask him to have the Chapter to buy copies of "Cerulean Blue" as well as the other books as they become available.

I like the style of the cover, as I'm able to use the flaps as bookmarkers. Also the pages are easy to turn using the upper corner when turning pgs.

Wray Miller, keep writing you are Great, I have read many books, Mithner, Smith, Brow, LaCorr, John Jakes and many, many, more. I use to work in a library and have always loved reading even as a kid. And none that I've ever read are any better and many not as good as you are. I'm a fan :)and will tell everyone I can to get your books.
