Remember when you could purchase REAL stereo speakers within a moderate price range that would not break the bank? Remember what it was like to listen to near audiophile quality speakers with the bass woofers built into them? Many an audio enthusiast will try to get that rich bass sound for their music by using small tiny satellite speakers and a separate sub. What they notice, like I did, is that there is always a slight delay or an out of tune quality between the sub and sats. The Cerwins have the bass woofers built right into them and therefore the woofers are tuned in time to match sonically with the mids and tweets in the speaker cabinets; something that ONLY the most expensive of separate sats and subs can do...In today's so called audio market, slim and bass-less tower speakers are all the rage and norm. You have to fork a few hundred to a thousand dollars more for that separate subwoofer----which most of today's subs will work for theatre digital applications but fall short for musical applications !...Cerwin Vega has always made affordable and reliable mid to hi-fi speakers. They fill that niche that no other audio speaker company cares to. With other name brands you either have an extreme limited choice between their bottom end cheap stuff or their esoteric and elite lines, but nothing in the middle for those on a budget to enjoy near audiophile high quality sound...

No need to fret my friends!In comes the Cerwin Vega E-712. The CV E-712 is one of the best audio speakers on the market (have been for a number of years with different model or badge-letter-numbers by Cerwin Vega such as HED or RE series). Their strength lies in that earth shattering bass producing woofer (you don't need a separate sub--period).The crisp high frequency tweeters are also something to marvel over. Some will claim that the tweeters on a CV speaker are too bright or sharp(that's what those handy-dandy black knobs on the speaker cabinet are for---to fine tune the sound and cut back or increase the highs and mids). You must remember that Cerwin Vegas were first widely used as dance club or DJing speakers.Their car audio line uses the same loud and sharp sounding principle to compensate for automotive engine-environment road noise.The real test is when these are used in a digital surround theatre set up ! The lows will make your stomach and chair rumble. The sound quality is colored and a tad exaggerated.This means that these are not warm or neutral sounding speakers like audiophile-grade speakers which tend to have a more subtle and bland sound for those used to crisp sharp highs and boomy bass. Mids are not accurate, but rather well produced.

The bottom line is that I'm glad I chose these speakers for their awesome sound quality which for me translates into a fun and hair raising experience from using with a turntable to listening to my favorite dvds !!! Does that behemoth Cerwin Vega speaker cabinet prove itself that it's not just for aesthetics? You better believe it! It serves it's HEAVY purpose/function extremely well...They are thickly insulated and constructed so well that you hear no speaker box resonances. I have pesonally seen the inside construction to these and even the cross over network is built pretty rugged---now that should be music to anyone's ears and earnings !

I have owned and heard $5000 speakers that could not match the clean bass output of a Cerwin Vega. I will own nothing more for my loudspeakers.
This is my second set of CV's in the last 15 years. The only reason for that is I sold the first set when I needed the money.
They are very clean sounding and almost eliminate the need for a subwoofer.
No distortion whatsoever - in fact they are so clean they point out the flaws in cd recordings.

I currently own an old set of Cerwin Vega HED Series home speakers. They are 25 years old and still manage to rattle objects off the wall in my home! I have never blown these speakers and they have been pushed hard year after year. My best friend was purchasing a new stereo system as a Christmas gift for his wife and asked for my recommendation for home speakers. After listening to the newer style satellite/subwoofer speaker systems, we were both disappointed to say the least. We do not have any stores in my area which sell the Cerwin Vega floor model speakers so I checked out the Cerwin Vega website and located a dealer within 30 miles of my home. They no longer make the HED Series speaker but have a newer version called the E-Series. We hopped in the car last night and drove 45 minutes to hear the new Vegas. These speakers literally blew us away. The bass pounds like thunder and the mids and highs are crystal clear. They will easily produce DB levels well over 110. The impressive thing about these speakers is they accurately produced excellent sound quality at both low and extremely high volumes. Why in the world have companies changed their designs away from these 3 way floor speakers? Nothing compares. I listened to a pair of Polk Audio tower speakers selling for $1500 and these $400 Cerwin Vegas put them to shame. In my opinion, nothing can compare to the powerful and durable Cerwin Vega speaker. I'll put them up against any speaker at any price.

THese are the best speakers you could ever buy. Cerwin Vega definately raises the bar in speaker performance!

For starters, there are many "good" speakers out there, but not many compare to the price to quality ratio that Cerwin Vega offers. I currently own a pair of the E-712's and believe me when I say this, it doesn't get much better than this. I shopped around at numerous stores and comparing the price to their quality and nothing compared to these.

Before I purchased these speakers, I was and still am, a loyal Kenwood fan. But lately Kenwood has disappointed me. So I switched to Cerwin Vegas. As you know, these have the woofer built in. I didn't believe it when I first turned up these babies. You can hear both the high's and low's perfectly clear. I turned my subwoofer off and the sound was still the same. (eliminating the need for a subwoofer.)

But the real difference was when I played on Halo 2. When you shoot these speakers really show their stuff. You can hear every single shot fired at crystal clarity. A friend of mine is always talking about his Bose speakers and "this and that" about them, but from first hand experience, these kick the crap out of them. So if your looking for great quality at an even greater price, get these speakers, trust me, there are no other speakers that compare for the price that your getting.

I bought these a couple of months ago and it has made watching movies and listening to music very much more enjoyable. It is just nice to be able to know you're not going to blow out the woofer and are absolutely great for entertaining friends and showing them off a little bit. Anyways, if these speakers were 500 bucks a piece I'd still buy them because they outperform any other brand of speaker in my opinion. Buy them today, you won't be disappointed!

I had CV AT-15, 3" tweet, 6" mid, 15" woofers, these monsters had 2" particle board cabinets. The fidelity was close to perfect, I hosted many a party and everyone always commented on the sound "like it was live". Rich, full sound, the highs were crisp and clean, the lows were earth shaking. They had passive radiators, in a room that was 30' feet long the puffs of air would hit you, these are the air moving, organic sound reproducers that your ears love. I drove them with a 500w. JVC. at a nice volume (50%) the woofers would move your clothes! LITERALY! Cerwins move the soul. If you want to feel sound in your spine...CERWIN'S! Bose are great if you want a small package, let me put it this way: Bose: sterile digital. CV: Jimmy Page ripping on a Marshall tube amp!

I picked up a pair of well cared for used Cerwin-Vega E-712s today at a garage sale for $200/pair.

I've spent the afternoon / evening listening to a variety of music from rock / trance / hip hop to classical and opera. I love these things. The highs are crisp and clear, the bass vibrates your body. And I have them hooked to an ancient Parasound DR40 amp. Volume knob half way is loud and 3/4 is "I should be wearing ear plugs" loud.

I'm not an audiophile because I can't afford to be. I'm more of an audio enthusiast piecing together a decent system from other people's left overs. Still, I think I would be pretty pleased with these speakers even if I purchased them new at a higher price.

these speakers are probably nolt audiophile speakers but are very good at the price well balanced good effinct bass while staying pretty clean. these are indestructable. they will outpurform bose at any price a definant step up from sony,pioneer,etc and outperform most speakers at twice the price

although nothing bad can be said of the Vega's they certainly do not deliver the complete sound that I believed they had for the price. If your want the name buy away!:)
