David Owens' book is the kind of literature I could have done with at the beginning of my Catatonia obsession - for new fans its an absolute must. For someone who's dedicated years of their life to the Catatonic cause it is more of a case of going over old ground - regurgitating stories we've all heard a 1000 times. Don't get me wrong, it makes fascinating reading - and there's some real gems within. If you're the sort of sad person who's spent hours lying awake desperately wondering about the name of Cerys' sister or sat engrossed in a Cardiff A-Z trying to work out where Cerys and Mark lived when they were still 'doing it then finally you'll be able to rest easily. However, if you ARE that kind of person you'll spend the rest of the time going "well, like yeah, now tell me something else I don't know" - not to mention picking up on odd mistakes... the part that claims that Cerys and Mark's relationship remained secret until last year must have come as quite a surprise to FHM who revealed this in April '98. But hey, i'm being picky. At the end of the day, this is a well written story about the biggest star the popworld has produced in recent years... its also got some lovely pictures... so who's complaining eh?

It is about time that an author finally took intrest in writing a biography of one of the greatest bands that ever came out of the uk. This is defenately a must have for any fan of Catatonia. Its a great tale of the trials and tribulations of being in a succesful band and it tells the story of the ups and downs of being in the buisness. Definately a great read!!!!
