Cesar Chavez
I bought this to use in my 6th grade reading classroom. It is excellent to use to teach reading skills such as main idea, author's purpose, or summarizing. I put it in a center and students have 10 minutes to use the book for an assignment. Since it is at a lower reading level, students have success in building skills to use in higher level texts. Pictures are small
I loved the biography, however, I am a Kindergarten teacher and the pictures are a little small to use in a whole group setting. I wish it came in a "Big Book".

This book is a good addition to the grade 1-6 classroom library.

As teachers and parents look for sources to help children embrace and appreciate their own and their friends' cultures, this biography is excellent in explaining who Cesar Chavez was and the extraordinary work he did for farm workers' rights. Our granddaughter has a Mexican background and she and her parents thoroughly enjoyed learning about what Cesar Chavez did for migrant workers---a great experience!
