Cetaphil Antibacterial Gentle Cleansing Bar

A soap-free bar with antibacterial benefits

Bar none, Cetaphil Antibacterial Gentle Cleansing Bar is the one to keep in the shower. Its non-soap formula offers effective cleansing for all skin types, and is gentle enough even for dry and sensitive skin. As it gently cleans your skin, it helps remove surface bacteria and oil. That makes it well suited for cleansing acne and impetigo, a bacterial skin infection.

Effective cleanser removes surface bacteria and oils

The antibacterial action in Cetaphil Antibacterial Gentle Cleansing Bar works to remove bacteria on the skin surface and extra oil that can clog pores. It's a mild, non–soap formulation with unique, dual–moisturizing and deodorant benefits.

How to Use

Apply to skin while bathing or washing. Lather, massage into skin and rinse. Your skin is now ready for Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion.

Why Cetaphil Products?

Recommended by dermatologists and pediatricians, Cetaphil products give you a simple way to love your skin every day. They're designed to help you build the best kind of relationship with your skin — a healthy one.

Cetaphil Antibacterial Gentle Cleansing Bar is indeed the optimum choice for my problem skin.

This pH balance non-soap cleansing bar is a super gentle all over body wash. I even use it on my face in lieu of shaving cream - it's that soothing! The antibacterial ingredient - triclosan, also helps protect my freshly shaved face.

CONS:
This stuff's pricey
Cetaphil Antibacterial Cleansing Bar is very soft and it melts away quickly once it's under the shower stream.

TIP: To reduce wastage of this pricey cleansing bar, don't lather up under the shower, lather up your washcloth instead and store your Cetaphil Cleansing Bar away from the shower (I keep mine in a covered soap dish).

This product offers a few buying choices. You can buy Cetaphil Antibacterial Cleansing Bars singly, or you can save some money by buying the six packs using Amazon or other sellers. You can even get Cetaphil six packs using Amazon 'Subscribe & Save'. Great! :))

I have terrible skin - eczema AND acne. This is really the best and only cleanser I can use. It is great for both face and body - my skin is extremely oily on the face and extremely dry everywhere else. This cleanses really well, getting all the excess oil off my face, yet never dries too much. If I use anything else, even for a day, I find that my acne flares up. My skin in dry areas becomes tight and scaly with other cleansers.

I'm not really a fan of Triclosan, either, but I've been using this for years with no apparent adverse effects. According to MD Consult, Triclosan is effective against a variety of bacteria, is popular in healthcare settings, and the only adverse effect listed is possible irritation in some people. It appears that concerns about microbial resistance were possible in theory, but research has shown it is not significant for Triclosan.

Let's talk a bit about my face.
1.) My skin has never been awesome, but as I've turned 28, 29 and 30, it became less awesome by the day. (WTF?)
2.) Cancer did me no favors. Stress + cancer stuff + medicine= Bad, bad skin.
3.) This made my skin feel great and prevented my adult break-outs, but at a cost.

Pros:
- The smell is decent

- It works. I massage this on my face in the morning and rinse and again before bed and rinse. (I spend at least a minute gently massaging it into my face.) It doesn't stop those pesky monthly breakouts, but it has evened my tone and prevented everyday acne since I started using it.

- It's unassuming. I love the Cetaphil brand. They aren't in your face with marketing. They just make good stuff. I appreciate that.

- It's not ridiculous. It's under $4 a bar. I can handle that.

Cons:
- It's not GOOD for you. Should you use an anti-bacterial face wash? Probably not. (Especially since anti-bacterial agents are making their way into our lakes + water.) I am currently having a karma war with myself over this. It has KNOWN chemicals that aren't good for you. (For a cancer survivor, this terrifies me.) Yet, I haven't found a face wash as good as this one. Source:[...] This one: http://www.amazon.com/La-Roche-Toleriane-Gentle-Cleansing/dp/B001CL890Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359765236&sr=8-1&keywords=La+Roche-Posay+Toleriane+Gentle+Cleansing+Bar has a (10) rating and it's $55.00. I'm cheap. $4.00 works.

- I'm afraid that my body + face bacteria are going to someday become resistant and I won't be able to use other bar soaps. It sounds scientific, right?

Overall, it's a decent option for those who have problem skin to try. Make sure to RESEARCH your cosmetics to find out how harmful they are. Knowledge is power.

A doctor recommended Cetaphil because of a condition with my oil glands that caused my skin to break out. I found that the Antibacterial Cetaphil works better then the regular Cetaphil for clearing out my skin infections. Resent research shows you have to scrup for at least 10 seconds to clean the bacteria out of the skin. This is also good because it does not dry out your skin like regular antibacterial soaps. It does dry out my feet and I do need to put extra oil on them. It is nice at my age (58) to use a gentle soap that will not damage the skin. I like the way I can rinse until my skin is just where I want it, not to much oil and not to dry. This product is well worth the price and seems to last longer then the cheaper bars of soap.

I have been using this product since 1998. I don't care for the lotions, but the soap is the best.

This is the best product I have ever used, and it is so "simple." The Amazon bulk price is similar or cheaper than the retail price in my local stores.
