I've been trying to compile a "Holy Grail" list of products that my overly-sensitive, bad-natured, hissy-fit-having skin agrees with for a very long time now.

I have very oily, very hyper-sensitive skin that has never responded to any prescription treatments from doctors or dermatologists. And if that isn't enough, I also suffer from what has been diagnosed as Cholinergic Urticaria (scratches appearing on skin after sweating..i.e..from exercising or whatever) and Dermographism, where long, welt-like scratches will present themselves on my back, arms and neck for no apparent reason and at any given time. The scratches look as if someone/something has attacked my skin with a vengence. Needless to say, the breakouts causes terrible stinging, burning, raised and inflamed skin and leaves the most unsightly marks after each episode.

On the days when these conditions occur (they are not food-related that I can see), forget about being able to take a bath or shower or allowing water and especially soap on the skin because it can really hurt.

After having success with Cetaphil's bar soap and moisturizing cream, I decided to try the Restoraderm Skin Restoring Body Wash after seeing it on sale at Target. And, boy, am I glad I did.

Not only has my skin lost that tight, parched, and itchy feeling, but many of the old scratch marks from years ago on my back and arms seem to be lightening up and fading as well. And while I am not confortable saying that a product has "cured" my skin afflictions, Restoraderm has done more than I ever imagined could happen.

Oh Cetaphil, I am about to get emotional describing the effects your body wash had on me! I am 22 years old and have been struggling with the most sensitive, itchy, oily, blemished, clogged skin on the planet, and now I am healthy, clear, radiant, and happy as ever because of this body wash. I use it as a facial cleanser AND as a body wash in the shower, and I have no zits, little oil, and happy skin. I have received so many compliments on my skin because of this cleanser, which literally never happened considering I have struggled with acne since BIRTH (it seems like), and I have actually had to practice accepting such compliments. I have tried everything from other Cetaphil face washes to Pro-Active to Clean and Clear to Dove soap to dermatological nightmares to obtain the skin I have now. I randomly tried this wash from a friend's house not knowing it was for the baby (whoops hahaha) and I noticed a difference in my skin in one use. I had red splotches on my skin from its civil war, and they disappeared almost immediately. I went out and got a bottle of this that night. I have THE MOST extremely sensitive skin, and I cannot use ANYTHING it seems like, or else my skin declares war. Even if you just use it as body wash, it moisturizes your skin very well, and will not leave that white funny residue that other soaps do. The only con I have is that it makes my nostrils feel funny if it gets up inside of them during cleansing, and I'm guessing that's because it's not supposed to be used as a face wash. OH WELL. I use it because it's a literal cure-all, and I will never use anything else! :)

Almost 18 months ago, a dermatologist did a 'just in case' punch biopsy, to evaluate a now-known-to-be-essentially-nothing bump of skin on my upper arm. What the dermatologist failed to mention (beforehand, let alone ever) was that the apathetically gouged site could subsequently involve a rather prominent (& atypical-looking, in my experience) scar.

The site ended up looking like a section of dark red, freshly assaulted/gouged skin (complete with little darker red 'spots', presumably associated with an aspect of my blood supply), surrounded by a raised dark red 'halo' of skin. Being located in the front of my upper arm, I was conscious of how obvious this would appear if I were in a short-sleeved, let alone sleeveless, top.

I couldn't wait for this thing to 'heal', or at least get to whatever 'final state' it was capable of achieving.

I was careful to keep it clean & moistened initially, & then to allow it to be exposed to air, to continue healing. I used a vitamin E + aloe gel that had worked wonders with my skin previously, & had helped the skin of a relative's surgery incision sites heal to an extent that resulted in comments being made during a subsequent follow-up visit, in which the exceptional nature of the healing was noted & commented on by a few members of the staff.

The gel did nothing to produce any form of noticeable change to my punch biopsy site, however.

Absolutely nothing that I tried seemed to result in any improvement to the biopsy site. It kept right on looking as though it were only a few weeks past the onset of raw damage. The dark red kept right on staying dark red, & the skin surrounding the 'punch'/excavation kept right on looking the same, day after day.
