4.0 out of 5 stars The best $9.00 game I've played
First I'm running this game on Windows 7 with no problems. I have been gaming since the days of Wizardry. I like role playing games and Adventures of the "Monkey Island" type. 1.0 out of 5 stars Too many bugs
After seeing the game crash repeatedly when selecting "start new game" I decided to look up known bugs on google. There are too many to count, and even the company doesn't know how to fix them. They claim you need to install a bunch of other stuff that they somehow forgot to put on the disk, but say that stuff will come with the online download. It still has bugs. I'd...

First I'm running this game on Windows 7 with no problems. I have been gaming since the days of Wizardry. I like role playing games and Adventures of the "Monkey Island" type. This is a lot like a "Monkey Island" game and if you listen to the dialog and search everywhere you should be able to finish the game without help. Things you need to put up with. Long startup times. The game creates a ton of saved games which slows down startup. What I did is before quitting I kept my personally named save game and the last machine saved game and deleted the others. It still has a long load time but I feel better about it. This is a VERY wordy game. Characters talk incessantly and sometimes you need to go through quite a bit of the conversation before you trigger the phrase you need to get beyond a certain point. The game does have ways to skip over cut scenes and individual pieces of dialog. It also has fast ways of moving around but they aren't redily apparent.

The game itself is fun and the story is well written and well worth the $[...].

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game - and I found it quite a challenge, August 5, 2010

I loved this game even though I think I had to use a walkthrough more often than any game since "Myst" - and that was years ago. This is an adventure game where you find items and then have to use them in some way, including combining inventory items. I think one of the reasons I got stuck so often, compared to other games, is that this game is really one puzzling situation after another. Sometimes I knew what I needed to do (distract a guard) but it took me forever to figure out how to do it. To put this in context, I'm a casual middle-aged gamer, undoubtedly slow compared to the younger folks, but still loving using the little gray cells.

The game's voice acting is excellent and the dialouge hilarious. I really got a kick out of the conversations and the comments and the situations. If you get tired of the conversation, you just click to skip. The problem is, a couple times I skipped and missed an important point. The graphics are fun, too. Ceville is comically sarcastic and other characters include Ambrosius, a knight who likes nothing more than to compliment himself as he gazes in a mirror. It was such fun. The situations throughout the game are inventive and I think I can be excused for not figuring out some steps. I mean, putting celery in your ears to block out the noise - really!

I played on a PC XP with no problem.
I recommend the walkthrough on Gameboomers com if you need one.

I played this with my daughter and we loved it. FWIW, the game worked perfectly for me. I've been playing adventure games since Sierra was on top. This game takes me back. Beautiful art, colorful characters, good voice acting(decent audio quality), and a decent plot. The plot is not deep but fun. For the price it's amaaaaaaazing! I was compelled to give another review because of the one star review. Hint: You should thoroughly try to remedy your problem before you give an unjust review.

I play alot of these games. This one is too weird. How the heck are you supposed to figure to go hide in a closet so the cook can walk by and then you can get into the kitchen???? Just way too hard to figure out, takes the fun out of it. Spent way too much time trying to figure out how to play the game that I could not really ever enjoy it. Go with Dire Grove or the best game ever Madame Fate!

UPDATE:
I have finally got a new computer and I was happy that the game actually works. The graphics are great. I was really enjoying the game and then I got stucked. Not that the games freezes. I didn't know what to do. I decided to cheat by looking at a walkthrough and realised I couldn't get Lilly to go down by the gate to get the poster and paste. When I researched, I found out that everyone had this problem. Even people who had the best graphic cards. It was a glitch in the game. The only solution for this, was to get another software call Swiftshader. But when I use this software, I had to set my graphics to the lowest settings and yet the games was dead slow. Instead of seeing the characters running smoothly, you see them disappearing and reappearing at different places until they reach where they were going. I had to use this software about 5 time since I refuse to use this software for the whole game. So there was a lot of time wasted to end the games, edit the folder and restart the game again. Because of this, I decided to use the walkthrough for the whole game since I don't know where another glitch will be and they were others. Luckily I had a portable (game) and my desktop (Walkthrough).

Final Remarks:

Pro:
Good Story line.
Graphics are great.
Relatively Easy for everyone.

Cons:
Cannot work on all computer (Cheap Programming)
A lot of loading time.
A lot of Glitches which was solved by getting another software (Swiftshader)
With the other software, game run dead slow on the lowest graphics setting.
A lot of time wasted in ending, starting the new software and restarting the game.
Any changes to the options, can only take place when you restart the game.
This game just does not run smoothly.
Price is awful($19.99...thank God I only paid $9.99)

My bottom line is...this game was a waste of time and my money. I bought it because it mension that if you are a Monkey Island fan, you would like this game. Well I don't like it. Monkey Island was way better and never give these errors or any other errors. NEVER!!! Especially those which was made before WINDOWS ever came out. If you want a game that runs smoothly and give no problem, this is not a game for you. IF you never heard of Monkey Island, I think you should research. You wouldn't be sorry.

At the end of Ceville, they was a scene which shows that they might be a part two.
Will I buy it?
HELL NO!!!
----------------------------------------------

WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT.
Not what I expected.

The background is so blurred that all you see are a mixture of colours.

I have contacted Kalypso Media and they said that they will have one of their developers looked into it.

Other users have the same problems too as dicussed on Kalypso Media Website.

Once Kalypso Media reply to me with a positive and working solution, I will change my review.

So if you don't see my review change, no sense buying until you read some of the forum on Kalypso Media.
