My daughter received this book as a gift on her 1st birthday. She is half Indian, half Welsh- how exciting for her to have a board book about Indian foods for her book collection! I didn't even know such books existed. What a pleasant surprise. The book is well done- great illustrations and funny. Would love to see more books for children about the Indian culture.

Chaat and Sweets--as well as the other books in this series--features both unique artwork and a simple introduction to foods that may be unfamiliar to most young kids. This is definitely a book to consider when you wish to encourage your child to explore new cuisine and cultures.

My 19 month old daughter loves this series. And unlike a lot of other toddler books out there, I feel like I'm learning something from them too. Like the older books, the illustrations are rich and interesting and the dialogue keeps her attention. Unlike the older books, this one has a back glossary which gives both pronounciation and explanations for the food -- something doubly helpful for me.

i can't write in all caps, but this series of baby books from amy wilson sanger are our absolute favorite. i have all 7, and give them as gifts to lucky friends. so funny, so cute, so creative and a great way to learn about world foods, really. my older daughter likes to read the dessert sections to our baby and we have even experimented with some of the foods. A MUST HAVE FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES!

If you are a foodie and want to share your love of food with you little one these books are perfect. The art is a mix of paper cutouts and found objects and the rhyming story is very cute. You'll be repeating things like "Hola Jalapeno" to your little one with glee! I just wish this author would put out more of this series of books.

I bought this as part of a shower gift for one of my best friends. She and her husband are Indian and thought it was ADORABLE. The pictures are great and it is perfect for babies and toddlers.

We've been reading this to our 14 month old for the past few months. He really seems to enjoy the pictures. Our son is 1/2 Indian, so I'm thrilled to have found this book! It even inspired us to get paneer pakoras from our local Indian restaurant last month. Yum!

I love this series of books. We have Hola Jalapeno!, Mangia Mangia!, and My first book of Sushi. Love them all. Have to agree that the prose for this book is not as cute as in the other three we own.

However, the reason for the 4 stars instead of five (because while the prose isn't the cutest, it is satisfactory enough for me to give it 5 stars) is that there is a printing error in the book we received from amazon. The central page layout is printed upside down. We are returning it and searching for a copy without this error.

We own the whole series and this book fits in well -- but it's not our favorite.
